1. I would've though you'd link to something about public financing of elections.
It's not a sexy issue but it is a bipartisan one...as in BOTH parties despise the idea broadly, although of course there are some Dems that rightfully support it.

6. YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT,IHAVENOBIAS
The only way that Americans are going to put a stop to all of
this greed, is to PUBLICLY FINANCE OUR ELECTIONS. There is no
other way to stop politicians from being "indebted"
to anyone (since Corporations have been given the status of
personage). Please insist that ALL elections be publicly
financed. There are ways to do this without it costing
taxpayers anything. Like laws that force the media (We OWN the
airwaves) to donate equal time to candidates. We will all save
huge amounts of money, because we will not have to finance the
repaying of political "favors" by elected officials.
Lets start a special forum to draw up a list of demands to OUR
government, and then engage in CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE DAILY until
our demands are met. It may take years, but during that time,
we will vote only for pols who promise to abide by the PEOPLES
DEMANDS. It's a start, and we have to start somewhere. We (I
hope it is more than me) are open and appreciate all
viewpoints. Please lets make ELECTION REFORM OUR TOP PRIORITY.
That is the only way we will get Single Payer and all of our
other "RIGHTS" passed into law. I will be glad to
begin the "DEMAND" post in the discussion area.
Please contribute and lets find points that we can all agree
on. Then we can ACT AS A UNIFIED MOVEMENT, to get our demands
met.

8. WELL....
I went to the "GROUPS" site, to post a 'PROGRESSIVE
DEMANDS" post, in hopes that others would be interested.
But, you can not post to the "groups" area unless
you are a donor. I can understand this, it takes money to keep
a site going. I am glad this site is here. I have heart
failure and a few other degenerative conditions. I have been
waiting for my SS hearing for 2 1/2 years. After paying for 25
daily meds, I am blessed to have what I do have. I will donate
to DU, but not this month. I let "my moth overload my
ass", it seems. Oh well, we do need PUBLICLY FINANCED
ELECTIONS, or all of our "demands" will be ignored.
The pols know that money is the only way, presently, to get
elected. Money talks, bullshit walks. I'll walk away now...

2. Cenk is right about having better expectations for the tax
payer. We cannot allow our hard earn money to flow into unregulated, no transparency schemes. It doesn't matter who's administration is cooking the books. For Eliot Spitzer doing his job, he was outed to the world for paying someone other than his wife to have sex with him. So they removed the man who was trying to stop them with sex? O boy, what a crock.

3. Why did Cenk say Obama has closed down the prisons? I didn't know that?
Obama's finance plan make my knees weak with fright. Cenk is right - taking advantage of us, naked deriatives. I feel like I'm dying. Is it wrong to say AGAIN - the truth hurts, the truth pains. To know our future like this?

7. ON DEMOCRACY NOW
The journalist (one of the few left), Jason? ( I can not think
of his name off hand) asserts that torture is alive and well
in our "special terrorist prisons." I posted about
it last week , but he has compelling evidence that it is
business as usual in these places. PUBLICLY FINANCED ELECTIONS
ARE OUR ONLY HOPE.

Here you'll find total contributions for the 100 biggest givers in American politics since 1989--information that exists nowhere else.

Goldman Sachs, one of Wall Street’s most prestigious investment banks, was also among the many banks in 2008 and 2009 to receive billions of dollars in taxpayer money to help it stay afloat. Like others in the securities industry, Goldman Sachs advises and invests in nearly every industry affected by federal legislation. The firm closely monitors issues including economic policy, trade and nearly all legislation that governs the financial sector. It has been a major proponent of privatizing Social Security as well as legislation that would essentially deregulate the investment banking/securities industry. The firm tends to give most of its money to Democrats. A number of high-ranking government officials in recent years have spent part of their careers at Goldman Sachs.

Top 10 donors:
AT&T Inc $41,515,208
American Fedn of State, County & Municipal Employees $40,936,673
National Assn of Realtors $34,916,513
Goldman Sachs $31,009,422
Intl Brotherhood of Electrical Workers $30,487,281
American Assn for Justice $30,263,429
National Education Assn $29,772,875
Laborers Union $27,959,600
Service Employees International Union $27,467,157
Teamsters Union $26,877,454

Based on data released by the FEC on May 12, 2009.

12. Interesting numbers.
It appears that the amount of money labor contributes not quite, but almost, doubles the corporate money. With the overwhelming amount of money coming from labor it is no surprise the Democratic Party does better than their counterparts.

There could be serious leverage if those contributions ever came together. Even two or three could rock the foundations. Or am I reading to much into this?

10. They're ALL working for Goldman Sachs. We've been looted!

It's just a matter of time before we find that out.

Washington is captured by Wall Street. Not Obama's fault it's just to far gone. We need a plan B. Politics isn't working anymore.
