throwing a fit. DiFi CYA wasn't consulted because she is going down with the rest of the traitors of this country, I hope.

6. From what I understand the director of CIA is less potent since 2004.
Edited on Thu Jan-08-09 04:03 PM by balantz
Now we have to watch who is appointed DNI.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Director_of_National_Intelligence

And Obama's pick for DNI is this guy, Dennis Blair:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=385&topic_id=256575&mesg_id=256575

The office looks to be quite powerful.

8. It appears that as far as national intelligence goes it's "meet the new boss".
From a U.S.A. Today, 2004 article:

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2004-08-02-intel-analysis_x.htm

"Currently, the CIA director wears three hats: head of the CIA; coordinator of all U.S. intelligence across the nation's 15 intelligence agencies; and principal intelligence adviser to the president. Under Bush's proposal, the CIA director would retain only the first of those three jobs."

The other two hats go to the head of DNI. It looks like in the Obama administration that will be Dennis Blair.

14. So really, the director of CIA has much less power now.
The newer office of Director of National Intelligence has basically taken over the role of CIA and then some. At least that's what I'm reading.

21. We're controlled by hierarchies ... always been true ...
We need to be dismantling this intelligence stuff -- not enlaring it --

We need to enlarge the "people's" government -- increase openness/end secrecy --

11. Not to diminish the wisdom of Cenk
because I seriously cannot get enough of this guy. It's like political wisdom is back in vogue! I also liked how he pointed out how Feinstein did not oppose anything Bush did (such as Mukasey) as she is this appointment... but I digress, Rachel Maddow pointed out the same things on her show: Feinstein and Rockefeller complicit, etc.

The Rachel Maddow Show

Thanks to Cenk, Keith O. and Rachel, I am starting to really enjoy what is being said in politics. No candy coating it.

Edited on Thu Jan-08-09 04:51 PM by ihavenobias
Notice they both came to the same conclusion on the same day. If you really want to get picky, TYT airs before the Maddow show, but who cares, I love them both.

:)

PS---Honestly, I've really come to like Rachel more than Keith.

19. K&R. Did you see her on The Daily show last night?
Jon Stewart brought up a similar point, said that she's very popular because she's always so personable and likable. I took that to be a reference to her MSNBC colleagues, probably Keith... :D

I like her a great deal, too, have long been a fan of her radio show and was delighted when she got "the TV machine" gig... :bounce:

17. Feinstein(D-CA) is my Senator...
it is with deep humiliation and regret that I must agree with Cenk.

I would rather have Feinstein than a Repuke, but sometimes the pain
is so great that it just seems too bleeping close to call.
sigh.

26. A Star..
thanks for cheering me up. :pals:

Back before 2000 I thought it was the other way. Feinstein was the star.
But this last 8 years have been bad. Very bad.
So whats the difference now?

Boxer has consistently earned respect,
while Feinstein has consistently spent it.

22. Can we be sure Panetta has no prior CIA entanglements ...?
Most often, they do --

Remember, Poppy Bush on this issue?

Or Porter Goss?

Panetta is a former Repug ....!

23. I don't know Panneta inside & out
but a lot of people I trust, have voiced their approval.

Ray McGovern ex. CIA turned peace activist, is for him.

There is NO way in the world he is as snake-ish as Porter or Bush.

32. Today or tomorrow I'm going to post an important TYT clip when references O'Reilly/Rove.
You'll see what I mean. I *do* think there's a difference between posting raw video an insane, inflammatory conservative and posting a progressive's (verbal) spanking of an insane, inflammatory conservative.

It's always good to have a rebuttal to the BS talking points!
