In May 1933, the Nazis created the Gestapo- a secret police force with the power to arrest and detain people without charge. People were arrested on the mere suspicion of disloyalty to the party. Many were tortured, and most ended up in a prison camp called Buchenwald where they were held -with no contact with the outside world- until such time as the Gestapo decided to release them. When and if that day came, prisoners were not told why they had been released, or even why they had been detained in the first place.

I wonder how many more there are? I can't imagine being locked up for seven years for basically being in the wrong place at the right time. Not that you can make up for seven years, but will these people get compensation?

7. Wrong place, wrong time?

Try having the wrong name. That's what some of these people are in for. I'm kinda hoping we keep Gitmo open- We'll need someplace to put the Bushies after all. And maybe we can help reduce the deficit by having Bush and Cheney waterboarded on pay per view.
