Aside from the hypocrisy as Crooks and Liars points out (below) I just love that Bozell wants to say that the moderates are over (problem is that they weren't conservative enough) AND that Obama's election is clearly support for conservatism.

:eyes: only legacies like L.Brent III and William Kristol can still push this nonsense

Brent Bozell caught as a hypocrite on Obama: Obama the Socialist, Obama the Reaganite

http://crooksandliars.com/john-amato/brent-bozell-caught-hyporcrite-obama-ob

On America's Newsroom, Media Research Center president L. Brent Bozell III claimed that President-elect Barack Obama "ran as a Reaganite" and "won over ... the public as a fiscal conservative." But less than two weeks earlier, Bozell accused Obama of espousing "socialism" throughout the "entirety of the campaign."

Wow, in just two weeks:

BOZELL: But when you go through the entirety of the campaign saying the kind of things that you're saying in the debates, where on, for every question, you've got a redistribution of wealth answer, where you've got socialism, where you've got the government controlling every aspect of life. You don't expect a reporter to ask you, "Is this socialism?" Because the media don't ask that question. Well, some uppity reporter did -- and look what happened, they cancelled her. And, by the way, she won't be going to the ball, either.

BOZELL: No, it hasn't. Look at the exit polling. The number one issue was the economy, nothing came close. The American people are fiscally conservative, and the fascinating thing, Bill, is that Barack Obama ran as a Reaganite and won over the fiscal -- the public as a fiscal conservative. That's what the polling data shows.

BOZELL: Well, number one is that the public is conservative; number two, Barack Obama won as a conservative. That means that Barack Obama does not have the mandate to enact the left-wing agenda he wants to enact. He didn't run on it, he ran from it. So, this is not necessarily bad news for conservatives.

Tell that to the angry, snarling, wild eyed folks from the McCain/Palin rallies.

9. They really have nothing, do they??
And some of them, like Bozell, are so far gone they don't have a clue.

Earlier this year, the Republicans referred to Obama as the Muslim Marxist. Then later he became the Muslim Socialist. Now that he has wiped the floor with some Republican @ss, SUDDENLY he becomes -- REAGAN!!!

There is no smiley to convey my utter disgust at their hypocrisy and utter stupidity. They are insane.

13. Let's hope these lunatics remain entrenched in their beliefs for another
100 years. Bozell does not have a freakin clue as to what the "real" America looks like today. he is like a man in a bubble--hermetically sealed from the 2008 electoral mandate that Barack Obama was given. Bring back Palin and Kristol and Nordquist and Perkins and Dobson and the rest--they will be preaching to a FINITE and SMALL crowd.

Virginia is now a Blue state with two Democrat senators and a Democrat governor. North Carolina, Indiana, Nevada, and even Ohio voted for Obama. Senators like Elizabeth Dole were voted out of office. The Republicans are outnumbered 2:1 in the House. And the fact that the Republicans chose a moderate (at least according to beard guy here) as their presidential candidate to begin with might suggest that Conservatism is swishing it's way down the crapper. But that Muslim-Socialist-Marxist-Arab-Terrorist does remind us of Regan.

As Colbert says "just go with your gut." Reality has a liberal bias anyway.

18. So is Obama a Marxist AND a conservative?
This dude makes no sense.

And I would say that it is right-wing conservatism that has been crushed. The far right-wingers couldn't even get past the primaries in their own party. Duh!

Edited on Sun Nov-09-08 09:58 PM by ksimons

That's what this guy is doing. He is trying to force feed what America is spitting out. Only difference here is America is not a mindless baby and we will not be spoon fed the regurgitated ideas of the far right wing.

I wish them the best of luck. They are doing more to help our cause than they understand.

Doin' a heckuva job, Brownie!

Or perhaps it's more Gertrude Stein:

I dunno....these both seem to make more sense.

30. Dionne is great. He completely called this in Sept. 2007-the burbs and the Party of the South
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=103x398990

It is hard to notice that Dionne is rarely on This Week anymore.
What WOULD George Will do if he had to face that on a weekly basis?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=103x400069

Also-the New England Republicans (Rockefeller Republicans) are basically dead now. Due mostly to the "Southern Strategy" of the RNC. Lott, Barbour, Newt, Delay, etc. all were just sure that their righteous indignation would carry the party where it needed to go (the midwest would buy into that old time religion) and we are now seeing the result. The New York Republican especially never had much time for that crowd nor did they need to, they had their own money apparatus thank you. Still it isn't going well for either right now.

Or they think their audience is THAT STUPID as to believe that Obama ran as a Reaganite.

The Repugs know they lost many of the "Reagan Democrats" in this election and realize they have to get them back if they want to win elections.

BTW. Bozoells' chin is the size of my knee (I have football knees).

34. So...
did anyone else notice the schizophrenia going on?

He ran as a conservative...he's a socialist.
He is a Reaganite...he's wants to redistribute the wealth.
He ran a left-wing agenda during the campaign...but after we say he didn't so he won't have a mandate.

Good God, I hope the Republican's do whatever this guy says in 2010, 12, 14, 16, etc.

Those poor Conservative crazies who have spent the rent money buying up all the guns and assault rifles, building comfortable domiciles out in the middle of swamps, boning up on their sixth grade spelling the better to homeschool their kids, hiding their Bibles, and grabbing all their money out of the bank in order to make the world better by destroying it will feel so much better now...
