This is the second part of Part 2 of our video series, detailing the involvement of Arlen Specter in the Warren Commission and his suspicious treatment of the evidence surrounding President Kennedy's back wound. It's old news, I know. But Specter's deliberate and obvious misrepresentation of the evidence in only the biggest murder case of the century should have been big news...43 YEARS AGO. Is it still too hot to handle?

1. I always wondered about the Warren Commission
until I realized that Gerald Ford was on it ...

A pet theory of mine ... Ford got the VP position because he managed to help cover up any trace of disgruntled 1960 presidential candidate loser Nixon's involvement ... which may have been mentioned on that gap on the tapes that would have blown this country into total chaos ... knowing what else that politicians will do to keep power, is that so far-fetched?

3. JFK Assassination/Watergate connection
Beyond the strange coincidence that the Watergate burglars were culled from the same violently anti-Castro crowd that could very well have killed Kennedy (read Someone Would Have Talked by Larry Hancock), there are other strange connections between the two events. Nixon, who knew his own guilt, wanted to create a presidential commission to clear himself, a la LBJ. AMAZINGLY, he even tried to get Earl Warren to chair the commission. That failed, he tried to get Warren Commission general counsel J. Lee Rankin to lead the investigation. That failed, he tried to get Arlen Specter as his personal attorney. He eventually succeeded in tying the events together by bringing Gerry Ford in his VP, and Leon Jaworski--who'd advised the State of Texas during its own investigation of the assassination--in as Special Prosecutor.

Another striking coincidence: all during this period Nixon's closest ally--and his chosen heir apparent--was John Connally, who'd been wounded along with Kennedy in Dallas. As Connally had been Lyndon Johnson's closest confidante, not to mention his former campaign manager, Nixon may very well have come to learn what really happened in Dallas. Also intriguing is that, upon taking office, one of Nixon's priorities was the forced removal of Johnson's top strategist, Abe Fortas, from the U.S. Supreme Court, where Johnson had planted him with the idea he would replace Warren as Chief Justice.

All this makes me suspect that Nixon believed Kennedy was killed by a conspiracy, and that Johnson covered it up. I also suspect he was trying to use this info--and Democratic fear of this info--for protection against an investigation into Nixon's own activities.

2. still too hot to handle?
well, that's a matter of opinion, personally I think the public needs to know what happened.

There is a new article in this month's Rolling Stone. I haven't read it myself yet but it's an interview with Howard Hunt's son. When Hunt died last year he made a death bed confession to his son in which he stated that the reason for Watergate was to keep info surrounding JFK's assassination secret. He says, if the democrats had won, they would have begun investigations regarding JFK.

4. Bumped for those intigued by part 3
To be clear this is part b of part 2 of my video series. 2b or not 2b? 2b. I've bumped it for those intrigued by part 3, which is brand new and gets into the role the Justice Department played in deceiving the public. Nothing new there.
