Bonus wingnuttery: Pat flashes back to being Nixon's aide when he was running against Humphrey, says Humphrey was catching up to "us". Ok, so he really was on that team, just an interesting choice of words.

2. Buchanan was right in one respect
Obama was more cautious than he needed to be.

All he had to say was that he really couldn't say because he really didn't
have a very good feel for who Sarah Palin really was.

He wouldn't even have had to wink.

5. Obama Was Cautious For a Reason
Look, Obama's up by double-digits. If he'd run a less cautious game last night, he risked giving McCain something to attack. He doesn't WANT anything to change... he's winning. McCain was the only one who had a vested interest in stirring things up. For Obama to have done so would have been reckless.

Yeah, sure, he likely coulda said something snarky and gotten away with it. But he's not in this to beat up on McCain. He's in this to gain the Presidency. Keepin his eyes on the prize, if you'll pardon the reference.

9. He was cautious in the debate, but...
...I believe that he and Biden have done a very good job campaigning. They have conveyed the appearance of being more in control and more able to handle the economic situation. They look much more competent and I think a lot of American voters have picked up on that. Pat says they are riding out the clock, whereas, I think they realize undecided voters don't want to see guys arguing and getting hostile over insider stuff. The idea is to look professioanl and they are certainly doing that

4. What Pat fails to grasp about the poll numbers 4 weeks ago...
...is that no one knew who the hell Mooselini was back then. Now they do and the polls reflect that. It's not the only factor, but only a true believer could deny that it is a factor.

11. Hey, let'em think that
They'll run her in '12 at the top of the ticket. That can't be bad news.

6. Maddow's Ability For Detatched Analysis
Is her strong suit. You know where she stands on the issues but she doesn't let that cloud her thinking so she is able to provide a detatched analysis. Last night all of the talking heads were calling the debate for McCain "on points" and she chimed in without fanfare that this was McCain's worst debate. Several minutes later CBS has a poll of uncommitted voters that said Obama won by 53-22. I don't know what debate those other talking heads were watching because McCain basically self-destructed before our very eyes.

Same goes for this "likeability" of Palin talk. What is likeable about Palin's over eagerness to engage in nothing but character assassination? Buchanan's idea of likeability strikes others like fingernails on a chalkboard.

8. Agreed, excellent analysis. Rachel is fun to watch because
there is finally someone on TV who is smarter than most people. As opposed to most of the talking heads, who are just smart enough to appear semi-coherent on screen, but no smarter.

13. Pat, this one's gonna be hard to spin.
Can't blame everything on the economy, Obama started surging before the Lehman bros. collapsed.

14. Rachel was sharp and on point there
Not cheerleader-y and snarky as I've seen her in some clips. And I like how she handled Old Pat. :)

15. People like to watch Palin. She's good entertainment, good for a chuckle or two.
But they DON'T LIKE HER.

When people see Obama, they actually like him.
