I just came across this video and I love it. Apparantly the video hasn't had that much exposure.

I saw the pics earlier but this video was a treat. I wandered over to their site and stayed for a while reading the guestbook. It was an uplifting place to be after all that exposure to hatred this week.

14. And this video proves why you don't stereotype people

I live in Georgia, a so-called red state. I'm Black and my people are based out of here (even if they have made roots in other places in the U.S. over time).

Yes, there is racism down here but there's racism in every state in the union.

I get uneasy when I see people walking around with the confederate flag but I don't protest the streets about it. If they use that flag as a symbol of promoting white supremacy then I would rather know my enemy outright.

But the point I'm ultimately trying to make is that you can't paint a region with such a broad brush and get a clear picture of the situation.
There are proud southern whites who are NOT racist. You look at them on the surface and make a stereotype about Slingblade and all that and you might miss who they really are.

You have to give people the benefit of the doubt and judge by how they behave in the world.

I wish there were MORE "Rednecks for Obama" to kill that ugly dehumanizing legacy of White-over-Black supremacy and heal the rift that still creates tension between the groups.

While there are probably many "Rednecks Against Obama", I say don't assume that when you see a White Southerner that they are automatically racist. This video goes to show that reality. Gives me a lot of hope for the future.
