3. WTF? "In this country everyone thinks they can be president"?!?! Really? When did we attain such
a simple understanding of the position PSOTUS?

4. Sorry David...
...but it really is disheartening to witness someone as able and intelligent as you compromise yourself in such a manner. You obviously know that this person is a disaster for the McCain campaign and/or the country. Just because she, with all her obvious limitations, has some basic appeal to the lowest common denominator of the country shouldn't mean that you should 'just go along'. I mean we know why John McCain's doing it, he's desperate to be President, but what do you get out of it? Is it that you're so invested in the rightwing manifesto that you have to take these positions or risk having your legs broken or the payola cut off? Do you figure that you have to keep spouting the rightwing line or the NYT might decide they don't need your comments any longer? Is it any of that, or is it that you're just a prick of the first order.

5. Palin won the Winking Contest
but not the debate, and not by a long shot.

Oh! And she won the part about stating more times what political positions she's held:
On the Board for the AK Oil and Gas regulators, Mayor, Governor, Soccer Mom, Mom of a Special Needs child, and was the only one in the debate to give extra credit homework to a group of third graders.

Damn, but she's 'xperienced! You bet'cha! ***giddyup-go horsie tongue click*** ***Winkies!***

7. Based on your logic, David...
all those questions I got wrong in school should have been graded as correct, I was just answering a different question that the one the teacher or professor asked me. Just who did they think they were to try to pin me down to the question of their choosing?

8. Like the batter just up from the minors whose "goal" is to not have his knees buckle
at the first couple of fast balls he faces, so Palin went into the debate with her goals, and "accomplished" the same.

But few sports writers would aver that such a batter won the game because he accomplished his "goals," even as he struck out looking. It takes a David Brooks to offer that kind of "insight."

12. There's your Republican standards: lower the bar so that you win by not embarassing yourself.
And we wonder why we have the problems that we have today.

13. Brooks, your credibility is going down
with McShame's plane.

I spoke with my friend who hangs with joe sixpacks last night. After Palin's debut, he whispered and giggled that one of his friends says, "she's really hot!"

Last night all he could say about her is "what was with the winking?" :wtf:

On the other hand, he loves Biden now and wishes he were at the top of the ticket. I'm not sure he can bring himself yet to vote for a black. It did help a *lot* when I explained to him that what "community organizer" really means is that at age 23-24 Obama "ran a Catholic charity, which was executive experience. He grew it from 4 employees to 13, with a budget of $4M. Got business people and others to volunteer their time and expertise when the steel mills closed putting people out of work. The volunteers helped them get training and restart their lives. Wish there'd been people like that around when DEC went down. I've spent 6 years floundering and lost most of my life savings."

That HIT HOME, since he blew his pension when DEC went down and now works as a janitor at stop n' shop.

14. At least he's right about Palin not being qualified
Edited on Mon Oct-06-08 07:15 AM by minnesota_liberal
The only way he could argue that she 'won' the debate is on the basis of her not having fallen on her face.
