5. please; when is the last time she spoke with an accent?
Or lived in Arkansas for that matter? I just thought it was funny.

6. A lot of people adopt accents or revert to accents
when they are surrounded by them.

8. It sounded forced.
Not a subconcious slip into it.

11. She has also been married to a southern man for 32 years....
and it rubs off. To me it's a very petty criticism.

3. I'm not offended by her "adopting" an accent. I did that, too...
When I worked in Nashville, I spoke with sales reps from all over the South. Without realizing it, I began to drawl a bit when I spoke with them. It's a natural human reaction to try to match the cadence and dialect of those with whom you speak. Some see it as pandering, but for others it's flattering.

What I object to is how horribly Hillary does it. If you have no ear for accents or dialects, leave it alone. She just sounds ridiculous.

15. It's what LePage called accommodation
or an act of identity. However, this particular sound bite sounds fishy. I don't think it's real.

10. We Do, but she is one of the last dems that should be president
Edited on Mon Mar-05-07 06:21 PM by mrdemocrat78
I just don't trust her. I don't know why she can't say the simple words "I was wrong" without having to twist and turn her way out of it. I think Obama, Edwards, Gore or even Pelosi (if she were to run) would make a better president.
And I fear that if she Does win the nomination; there will be such a high republic party turnout that we'll end up with McCain or Gulianni.

12. i dunno what accent that is, but t'aint southren. that's just downright
pitiful and pathetic. and a prime example of why i will not cast a vote for HRC. she has more contortions than a boneless snake to fit into whatever she thinks will get your vote instead of the spine to take a principled stand.

14. Great find, mrdem,
That seems too ridiculous, even for Hillary. Is there some context I'm missing ... like her doing a horrible impression of someone else, while repeating a quote from them? My God, that's just awful. It makes you want to curl up in a ball and die. She should, as a rule, never speak in public. All DUers in possession of their sanity, let us please pray that she is not the nominee. I'm not a praying man, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Every line from her brings to mind Matt Taibbi's bit comparing HRC and Obama: "When Hillary Clinton spouts a cliché, it's four words long, she's reading it off a teleprompter, and it hits the ear like the fat part of a wooden oar ... . Obama on the other hand can close his eyes and the clichés just pour out of his mouth in huge polysyllabic paragraphs, like Rachmaninoff improvisations. In this sense he's exactly like Bill Clinton, who had the same gift."

16. I tell you what fake accent bugs me: the Taco Bell one
where the white guy's trying to fake a Mexican accent. Pretty bad.

Anyhoo, Hillary is from the South and tried for years to get rid of her down home sytle accent so she'd be more acceptable to them thar Yankees. Now, she comes back, has one two many Mint Julips and falls back in the same ole same ole.

You can take Hillary out of the South, but you can't take the South out of Hillary.

18. Yep
just more right wing bullshit. I am most certainly not a Senator Clinton fan, at least as a Presidential candidate, but we should not blindly parrot right wing talking points. At least not until they are critically examined.

This shot at Senator Clinton is complete nonsense.

19. in that case she gets another demerit for being stoopit. WTF would she
cartoon voice a black hymn? she would've simply recited the lyrics to the little brown church on the hill or something like it. this whole thing is because of her pandering and sucking at it.

heaven help us if she campaigns in n'awlins and tries that patois on for size...

20. I saw the video on CNN earlier.
Hillary gets criticized for faking a "southern" accent, yet Obama fakes it at the same event but doesn't get criticized. Hillary actually lived in the south for years and Obama didn't.
