1. outline of the video
She's cancelled public appearances over the last few days, with no
explanation.

Probe into troopergate mentioned.
AIP mentioned (hot damn!)

McCain says these concerns are unfounded or dismissed. Released
her voter records to show she has only been Republican.

Alaskan delegation given press lessons before the conference.

No word as to when she'll resurface.
---

Katie does her reality check! Is she really a reformer? Caught
on the Bridge to Nowhere flip-flop. State still kept the money,
even though the bridge was never built. She had been advocate
for the bridge before she became governor.

Alaska applied for 197 million dollars in earmarks. Hired
lobbyists to get money from DC.

State investigation for firing Montagon. Palin says firing was for
professional reasons.

Jeff Greenfield points out some of the exaggerations by the
Republican party and highlights the absurdity of the claim that
because Alaska is close to Russia that means anything.

9. McCain't have it both ways
McCain also says she was properly vetted and if that's the case, then why did he choose her?

You can't have it both ways: either she wasn't vetted or your judgement, John McCain, is deplorable.

Or maybe republicans don't think there's anything wrong with her conduct. We're the crazies for thinking there's something wrong.

10. They're taking the spin off that, too. It was Newt or Fred Thompson at the RNC tonight who said,
"He's found his soulmate in Sarah Palin...."

11. McCain and Palin are soulmates allright, flip floppin' lyin'
soulmates. I hear Palin is not to be seen at this time because she is being tutored in foreign policy and voice modulation/elocution lessons.

12. Wow--- actual journalism!
I'm frankly SHOCKED that Katie Couric took her perky nose out of McCain's butt long enough to be involved in this report.

16. I'm a die hard Dem and I just have to say, I've always liked
Katie Couric. I know she gets a bad rap here, but she is just so much more moderate to left than the other anchors.

14. Its good to see the mainstream media
getting a clue here. I was so surprised when ABC actually started reporting some Palin stories before everyone else. Now CBS!

20. Will they report on this convention
as critically as they did on the Democratic Convention? I don't know. Have not watched any network news in years because they are all disgusting corporate whores (apologies to actual sex workers, who at least do something useful).

It is swell that ads for Michael Palin ringtones come up on all these threads. Some sort of weird serendipity there:

Praline: Look my lad, I know a dead parrot when I see one and I'm looking at one right now.

Shopkeeper: No, no sir, it's not dead. It's resting.

Praline: Resting?

Shopkeeper: Yeah, remarkable bird the Alaskan Blue, beautiful plumage, innit?

Or

Biggles: Er.... Nobody...um....
Ximinez: Expects...
Biggles: Expects... Nobody expects the...um...the Spanish...um...
Ximinez: Inquisition.
Biggles: I know, I know! Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition. In fact, those who do expect -
Ximinez: Our chief weapons are...
Biggles: Our chief weapons are...um...er...
Ximinez: Surprise...
Biggles: Surprise and --
Ximinez: Okay, stop. Stop. Stop there - stop there. Stop. Phew! Ah! ... our chief weapons are surprise...blah blah blah. Cardinal, read the charges.
Fang: You are hereby charged that you did on diverse dates commit fire public officials for spurious reasons, lied about declining a federal earmark and once attended the 1994 convention of the Very Silly Party in Anchorage.

And who can forget the lumberjack sketch! Got to be a Palin joke in there somewhere....

21. Unbelievable! Never saw THAT coming.
I had no idea this kind of investigative journalism actually occurred in the MSM. Not like it was particularly difficult... but still!

Bravo CBS!
