All the police have Homeland Security supplied complete riot gear with brand new tear gas and rubber bullet guns, plus large pepper spray delivery systems. The real issue is that they will retain the equipment and the attitude when dealing with the community that remains when the DNC moves their circus out of town.

I have seen much different behavior. In DC ironically, their cops handle protesters much better. We talked to them and all was cool. People sitting on the sidewalk knew they were doing civil disobediance and so did the cops. People outside the barrier were watching to make sure they were treated correctly.

In MN they expect to make a lot of arrests at the RNC, mostly because St Paul issued permits then changed their mind because the *ushits have to have their area clear of free speech, BUT I don't think you will see that kind of treatment.

In Minneapolis protests anyway, the cops were there only if things got out of hand and as long as you were not going up in their face they stayed out of yours.
