4. I guess my optimism may get out of hand but...
I look at it this way: communication technology has always evolved to follow the desire for freedom and expression. Think about it, before Gutenberg only a few priest and nobility could read and write. And For as long as there have been newspapers reported reality according to the wishes of their stockholders, there have always underground circulations that challenge the imposed main stream, i.e. colonial pamphlets. And when censored and controlled radio ruled the air waves, there have alternatives, such as pirate radio stations. When record companies tightened their grip on music, peer to peer services sprung up. As television tries to dictate reality, we find virtually every thing we desire to know on the internet... for now. My point is that when in the future the internet is controlled too, perhaps a new medium of communication will fill the void that was been filled so many times before.
