1. I thought it was adorable when I...

...saw it, and like many others--I noticed it right away.

They are such an adorable couple, who obviously have so much love and respect for
one another.

Can I just say? Look at Michelle Obama! She is absolutely STUNNING! How many
women could pull off that dress in that color? It's gorgeous on her. She is
transcendent on stage!

What an attractive, classy and regal wife, mother and woman Michelle Obama is.

Between the two of them--there are so many things to celebrate and admire--sometimes it's
just mind blowing!

32. we call it "daps". Usually done in a top/bottom/front exchange...
They don't do front daps in the east bay.

3. I 100% agree
I loved it when they did that and also backed up my DVR to watch it again right after they did that. They make such a great couple and you can just see the love they have for one another.

5. I think that is about the most adorable gesture I have ever seen by a political couple
Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 03:39 PM by debbierlus

Since Al & Tipper's kiss.

Very sweet.

It is an instant classic.

6. Okay, was I the only one who thought the butt pat was cool, too?
I just found the combination a one-two punch of familiarity and affection without being over the top.

Edited on Thu Jun-05-08 04:21 PM by mcjackson
Sorry, but I thought it was pretty lame. Are they on a softball team or a in a frat or something? Is Obama gonna "fist-tap" Putin or his Veep before every speech? One of our 50yr old sales guys does this all the time and it just makes me cringe every time.

16. No, he knows the difference between familiar gestures with his friends and loved ones
and completely inappropriate behavior in diplomatic situations. He's not going to be rubbing anyone's bald head or trying to rub women's shoulders. The fist bump was a little thing between him and Michelle, she was getting him psyched up for his speech, and it was adorable.

9. I like it because it was so genuine.
They did it for each other, not the cameras. In my mind that makes it far outclass Al & Tipper.

10. Please....
...they're politicians, everything they do is for the cameras. If it was for themselves they would have done it backstage.

15. Yes, every "genuine" moment between two people is done behind some stage,
or it's not genuine.

26. Something about Michelle on that stage reminded me of Jackie Kennedy.
Michelle has a dignity and elegance mixed with sincerity and a natural way of relating to people.

Jackie and Michelle were/are young and vibrant and very feminine. They both still raising young children and have that madonna look. Michelle is a woman of our time, a liberated woman. Jackie was a woman of her time, harnessed and repressed by the attitudes of that era about a woman's role. Jackie would have been more like Michelle Obama had Jackie lived today. Jackie was actually very talented in her own right as is Michelle.

It wasn't scripted. It was spontaneous and genuine unlike so much of the visuals we are subjected to by politicians. I loved it!

36. it was a teamwork gesture
"We did it." That's what I thought it said.
The accompanying look on each of their faces backed it up.

And yes, it was a very sweet moment and I'm glad to see some discussion on it.
