the 1st to recommend. Obama is going to absolutely make The Fossil © look like the fool he is. All he needs to do is be true to his beliefs, which he has done so far, and not let The Fossil © or is backers drag him down into the mud with them. I started off a Kucinich supporter, and even after he was gone, was slow to hop on the Obama bus, but now that I have, I think it will be one Hell of a fun ride!

Edited for formating

14. Thanks for the welcome, glad to be here, and also...
There's a great reaction to an intended slam by Mitt Romney, in a different part of the same interview. His rebuttal of the slam is fantastic. It's in part 1 of the two parts linked here:

against Hillary. I think this was just a taste of what he has in store for the old thin-skinned codger.

10. McCain cries ageism, "you called me old and unhinged" Whaaa, Whaa Boo Hoo
This thoughtful answer by our presumptive next candidate causes McCain to call Obama ageist. Saying the candidate called him "old and unhinged" the McCain campaign camp cried foul.

The Obama camp denies they intended any such inference.

The McCain camp retort - "What were we just talking about?"

Let THE GAMES BEGIN!

30. Losing your bearings = you're old?
In these parts of the woods (Illinois) that saying means losing your way/focus. I have heard people say of toddler's that they were doing good walking, but then they lost their bearings and fell. I think McCain's whole camp has lost their bearings.

35. Your interpretation is close to what Obama says he ways trying to point out
That McShame had lost his Moral Compass. Mr. Straight Talk has "lost his bearings" in his trek to power.

The problem for Johnny is did he lose his bearing because he is McShame and will now do anything to win, or McLame and just getting too old?

Either way he comes out looking none too good.

42. Perhaps the McCain camp is so concerned
about the fact that "Dear John" may be losing his marbles that they are paranoid about it, and try to devert all suspicious comments to his age (a red herring).

18. Israel was founded as a Jewish state
their laws affirm it -- for example, "The Law of the Return," in which anyone of Jewish birth (or conversion by an ORTHODOX rabbi) is admitted into Israel and given all the rights of citizenship, while those who are not Jewish are not.

The orthodox set the standards by which Israel's laws are written, and even people who are not particularly religious have to follow them. They decide who can be married, etc.

Too long to go into, but Israel is a "Jewish state," and considers itself to be so.

12. Cool, calm, well-spoken, focused. Doesn't get sucked into the spin or the smears...
...expresses himself well, presents and differentiates himself and his policies well, keeps his attention on the objective. Doesn't allow himself or his campaign to get dragged into distractions from the objectives: winning the Presidency, solutions to the energy problem and environmental issues, getting our economy back on track, putting an end to ongoing Middle East turmoil, getting us out of Iraq.

Impressive.

26. It gets even better.....
McCain's camp issues this response:

To: Interested Parties

From: Mark Salter, Senior Advisor

Date: May 8, 2008

Re: Senator Obama’s Attack Today

First, let us be clear about the nature of Senator Obama’s attack today: He used the words ‘losing his bearings’ intentionally, a not particularly clever way of raising John McCain’s age as an issue. This is typical of the Obama style of campaigning.

And Obama's camp issues this response to the response:

An Obama campaign spokesman shot back: “Clearly losing one’s bearings has no relation to age, given this bizarre rant that Mark Salter just sent out.”

27. It is so subtle, it's beautiful
It is not an attack, per se, but a pointed comment on the thoughts and tactics of the GOP. I can't wait for more of this, the GOP won't know how to deal. This election is going to be great.

23. The very prospect of having a president who can actually
speak comprehensible English nearly brings tears to my eyes, no matter which one of the candidates (even McCain) we're looking at...

That having been said, shame on John McCain for using the SAME shitty scare tactics those Bozos in DC have been using for the past eight years... If it's not Al Qaeda who wants a Democrat in the White House, it's Hamas. Who's next?

And I want to know how these guys presume to KNOW who Al Qaeda or Hamas wants in the White House anyway... What, do they get mental telepathy messages from all these terror organizations? Do they conduct their own polls of "terrists"? Send out questionnaires?

Unfortunately, we got stuck with four more years of GWB because those Bozos were able to scare people into believing they had some nifty little hotline into the inner workings of the terrorist mind.

Which, in retrospect, they did.

Look at how capable of scaring Americans they were..

Ironic, isn't it?

25. This is such an excellent way to deal with McCain
instead of going tit for tat he slams him with the "have you no shame". To make it even better, he actually says "he used to better than this." (Which, btw, I do not believe is true. I think McCain has always been slime.)

Remember when your mom used to say "you never used to do stuff like this, you were always such a great kid. I've come to expect better from you than this." OUCH. Made me mind.

As in he's lost, because he's old.

I assumed he meant "ball bearings" as in he is a robot. Who has short circuited and is set to "destroy all humans."

31. i'm not sure i buy even the "subtle" swipe at age here
"losing your bearings," to my ear, says losing your way or losing your path. its a nautical term. for mccain to jump on it like this just shows how eager he is to play the victim. mccain has lost his way, and if he keeps this kind of campaigning up, we'll all be saying he's lost his damn mind, and not even because of his age.

mccain seems to be the only one trying to get into this fight over age. guess its a sore spot. he needs to pretend its not a problem or its gonna be a big one.

with pundits and newsmodels asking Obama who he hates more, America, old people, or war heroes.

Fortunately he's pretty good at brushing this sort of thing off his shoulders and staying focused on what's important.
