Fighting Cancer ~ Free Book (or read it online)
This is a good book written by one of the founders of H&R Block who beat lung cancer... You can read the book online here

http://www.blochcancer.org/

Click the link on the side that says "Info for Patients"

They also have a similar book online for caregivers.

If you call their toll-free number they will send you these books in paperback freely.

Also, they will put a person in touch (within minutes) with somebody who survived the type of cancer that a person may have.

Excellent resource!

I read the letter from Dick Bloch when I was first diagnosed with aggressive stage 3 breast cancer. I took his advice, got a second opinion and also did what he suggested:

"Most cancers can be successfully treated, but generally you have only one chance. If you miss that first chance, if you don't do everything in your power, often there is no second chance."

I made sure I got the very best care possible and made the choice to throw "everything but the kitchen sink" at my cancer the first time around. I fought hard and won. Its the best advice you can get - get second opinions, seek the best care, don't worry about the cost and don't wimp out - do whatever it takes, put up with whatever is necessary to fight your cancer the first time around.

On edit - If I hadn't sought a multi-disciplinary second opinion, I would not have survived my cancer. The first doctor was going to give me a completely inadequate treatment regimen.

2. What a good book
There's no telling how many lives have been saved through that book and that foundation.

P. S.: So happy for you. Sorry you had cancer, but I'm so glad you made it!

4. They have a toll-free number you can call for support
1-800-433-0464

I can't remember if this was in the website version of the book.... but I'm pretty sure that if a person calls this number, they can put them in touch with a survivor of their type of cancer within 15 minutes.

Hope you're doing well!

8. Cool...thanks for posting this.
Stuff like this can really help people get through the mental stress of having cancer, and that's a big part of the battle.

I have a couple people to send this link to, so thanks again.
