Okay here goes:

My wife and I are traveling to Acapulco next Saturday. Bad timing, since the Bears may be playing then or on Sunday. Couple of questions for the well-traveled:

1. Will I get to see the Bears playoff game in Acapulco.

2. Will it piss my wife off to no end for me to bail and watch the game?

3. Any restaurant recommendations for Acapulco?

1. I have never been to Acapulco, but
I know that in Cozumel and Cancun, there were sports bars, just like in the US, and since they cater to tourists, I would imagine you will be able to find a place to watch the game. You could find a message board for Acapulco, such as Trip Advisor and post your question there.

have fun!

2. Acapulco is spread out so you'd have to explain what area
you're going to. And I've only been once, several years ago, in the summer. We stayed at Fiesta Americana.
Having said that, I was in Playa del Carmen for Super Bowl 2 years ago, and every bar/restaurant with a TV had the game on. Lots of people watching added to the excitement (plus, it was a good game!) so perhaps your wife will get caught up in the fun of the day. If she knows you like football, I don't see why she'd be angry (it's not your honeymoon, right?). She can look at it this way; it's the last game of the season.
Think of me; I'm leaving 3 Feb. for Manzanillo, MX, and we'll also be looking for a sports bar.
Enjoy! :toast:

4. Try Lonely
Planet's Thorn Tree section. There are loads of threads on Mexico.

www.lonelyplanet.com.

I am sure you will find plenty of opportunity to see American football in Acapulco.

5. Will your wife be mad?
How long is your vacation?

I would probably be mad if my (hypothetical) husband wanted to sit around and watch football if we were only going to be in Mexico for a couple of days, but if we were there for a week, I wouldn't care.

Either way, I'd use it as an opportunity to do something that I wanted to do that I knew he wasn't interested in.
