We're lucky enough to have just visited France. A long time
coming, and a fun family outing. Had a great time but let me forewarn you. Not only is the exchange rate terrible but the price's have gone through the roof. This was a fun trip, we had a great time but---ouch!
Paris and Burgundy. The French were gracious and helpful, but that doesn't help the bottom line. Not many Americans where we went. Perhaps in Paris but Burgundy seemed to attract very few. We were asked by a gentleman sitting next to us in a cafe in Beaune---I kid you not, "do you Americans like your president?" I almost started with my anti-**** litany but I just politely told him that almost all Americans disapprove of him and that he is not too swift. Didn't want to monopolize the conversation.

1. been asked the same question in Quebec
answered forthrightly

The French have taken a very unfair hit the past few years in the U.S. We have visited several times and have always found the French to be friendly, and welcoming - as long as we attempt to meet them half-way on their turf. Too many Americans try to bully their way around - and are met with a less-than-friendly welcome.

3. No, we ate at 2 great cafe's with "on the square" tables. Good
food, great wine. The town was one of our best spots to visit on this trip to France. Stayed at a great spot, L'auberge Bourguigonne. Just off another little square. Reasonable and spotless.

We've been to France several times over these many years, never met a rude Frenchman. Truly a fun country to visit. Just pricey now. Then again, we're getting up there in years, its go now or never. To heck with MasterCard. They'll get it back by the month.
