Working Families Lose A Champion As Nation Mourns Sen. Ted Kennedy's Passing

http://www.laborradio.org/node/11821

By Doug Cunningham

As labor and the nation mourns the passing of Senator Ted Kennedy, AFL-CIO President John Sweeney says Ted Kennedy was our senator – a senator for working people, poor people, the od and the vulnerable. Sweeney says Senator Kennedy has left an enormous footpront on America and for nearly half a century was the chief standard bearer for working families in the U.S. Senate. At the AFL-CIO’s 2005 convention, Senator Kennedy said unions give voice to workers struggling for fairness and dignity in the workplace and whenever there’s progress on social and economic justice, labor is at the heart of the battle. The AFL-CIO says it is because of Kennedy’s 47 years of hard work and public service that we will pass affordable, quality health care this year.
