Stop the Presses--Rasmussen actually has Bush in the 30's
Not by much--39%--but its the second day in a row that his approval rating has been under 40% which for Rasmussen is some kind of record. Also 60% disapprove of Bush. Only 19% strongly approve while 44% strongly disapprove.

However, Ras has Arnold ahead of both of his prospective democratic challengers in California in a "reversal of fortune."

1. Who are those 19%?
Freaking blind, ignorant morons. Strongly approve of death, destruction and despair; strongly approve of the ruination of our economy and our military; strongly approve of the whittling away of our constitution. A-fucking-mazing.

2. People from the far side of the Bell Curve
They don't believe in evolotion - understandably - because evolution has passed them by.

4. It's his base and that's about right when you think of it
there are lots of ignorant people in this country who don't comprehend what they see.

5. You would think so...
But I have a friend... nice woman, two kids, husband is a lawyer (just starting out), middle class with lots of student loan bills coming in, she's highly educated and articulate. And she's one of the 19%. I just don't get it. She thinks Fox news is fair and balanced, that Saddam had a hand in 9/11 and that somehow the Dems are still ruining the country.

I just don't get how otherwise normal people can be sheeple for him and his ilk. I know when Bill Clinton screwed something up, I had no problem saying that Big Dog screwed up! Why are they incapable of seeing the truth and admitting it?

7. Hi Lefty Mom and Welcome
To answer your last question, I believe pride goes along hand in hand with ignorance. They got on the bus early and they are too proud to get off after they realized it ain't going the right way. They sure as hell can't admit they were wrong.

I have in laws in the Topeka area and north of there; is that your neck of the woods?

6. I like to remind people about Nixon
He had about a 24% approval rating in the summer of '74 before he quit.

There's a core group of people who will stick to their guns out of stubborn pride and little else, even when it's painfully obvious that they've made the wrong choice. bush's "base" is getting down to that core group, scandal by scandal.

3. As Scotty said; the President seeks to further his
agenda, not the business of the people, which is definitely evidenced by this poll.... When will it become the people's business again????

9. Unfortunately my daddy in law is part of that 19%
He still has a b/c sticker on his truck and listens to the pigboy spout off every day. The good thing is he lives way the fuck back in the country and can't get cable tv, and he's too damn cheap to go for a satellite setup, so, he doesn't get to watch the faux news.
The good thing for me is that my wife hasn't appeared to have inherited his genes.
