Join the Dick Cheney fan club!
this is just too much...hours of fun

http://dickcheneyfanclub.com/index.html

they have a quotes page, to which anyone can submit

here are a few:

"I had other priorities in the sixties than military service." –on his five draft deferments, April 5, 1989

"There are a lot of lessons we want to learn out of this process in terms of what works. I think we are in fact on our way to getting on top of the whole Katrina exercise." --Sept. 10, 2005

"Conservation may be a sign of personal virtue but it is not a sufficient basis for a sound, comprehensive energy policy." –April 30, 2001

"My belief is we will, in fact, be greeted as liberators." --March 16, 2003

"We know he's been absolutely devoted to trying to acquire nuclear weapons, and we believe he has, in fact, reconstituted nuclear weapons." --March 16, 2003

"In Iraq, a ruthless dictator cultivated weapons of mass destruction and the means to deliver them. He gave support to terrorists, had an established relationship with al Qaeda, and his regime is no more." –Nov. 7, 2003

''He gave support to terrorists, had an established relationship with al Qaeda, and his regime is no more." –Nov. 7, 2003

"I think they're in the last throes, if you will, of the insurgency." -- on the Iraq insurgency, June 20, 2005

"Oh, yeah. He is. Big time.'' --agreeing with then-candidate George W. Bush, who was overheard at a campaign rally saying, "There's Adam Clymer, major league a**hole from The New York Times," Sept. 4, 2000

"Go f*ck yourself." --to Sen. Patrick Leahy, during an angry exchange on the Senate floor about profiteering by Halliburton, June 25, 2004

''Simply stated, there is no doubt that Saddam Hussein now has weapons of mass destruction.''-Speech to VFW National Convention
August 26, 2002

here's my favorite bit, though, from his 'fun facts' page:

''Dick Cheney's hobbies are mostly outdoors-related, including backpacking,
bicycling, camping, fishing, horseback riding, jogging and river-rafting.''

didn't they leave something out there?

on his way to the campground

11. I can't believe Hopper's transformation
I wonder what happened in the past four decades to lead him to the dark side. He and Dennis Miller must be drinking from the same fountain.

4. No offense to funeral directors, but uh . . .
Years ago, when a group of House members visiting the Soviet Union
amused themselves by taking a do-it-yourself psychoanalytic test, Dick
Cheney added up his score and discovered that the one profession
to which he was particularly well suited was funeral director.

7. Didn't he also say
Edited on Fri Apr-14-06 04:34 PM by NewJeffCT
Some time in the late 90s that "High gas prices are the sign of a failed presidency"?

I've seen it several times on DU, but can't find a link to the source.

Only quote I've seen is this eBay auction:

12. no depths to which they won't sink?
"It's absolutely essential that eight weeks from today, on Nov. 2, we make the right choice, because if we make the wrong choice then the danger is that we'll get hit again and we'll be hit in a way that will be devastating from the standpoint of the United States."

13. the lie patrol
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2004_10/004860.php

example from the debates of 2004

the lie:

"A great many of our small businesses pay taxes under the personal income taxes rather than the corporate rate. And about 900,000 small businesses will be hit if you do, in fact, do what they want to do with the top bracket."

the facts:

''Cheney's assertion is taken from this report by the Tax Policy Center. However, the 900,000 number (actually 995,000) refers to individuals with any amount of business income, not to small businesses themselves. The correct number for actual businesses with employees is only 72,000. Needless to say, Dick Cheney knows this perfectly well.

(It's also worth pointing out that under Kerry's plan there are 17.2 million individuals with business income who would get tax cuts. On a net basis, therefore, 16.2 million individuals with business income would pay less tax under Kerry's plan. For small businesses, a net of 1.2 million would pay less''

http://www.taxpolicycenter.org/TaxModel/tmdb/TMTemplate.cfm?DocID=715&topic2ID=40&topic3ID=59

it's worth reading some of the comments on this page, as some very accurately predicted that even the most egregious lies got no traction in the M$M. what a surprise
