Nuke Iran? That is Insane!
The consequences of launching an unprovoked nuclear attack on a much-weaker nation could well be enormous. NATO almost certainly would fall apart. I think our place in the international trade regime would be compromised, to say the least. We'd almost certainly face sanctions. Even though we can veto action in the UN Security Council, I think the world would find ways to punish us economically.

Then there is the REALLY scary possibility: That another major power (or a coalition) would decide to launch a preemptive strike against OUR military capabilities.

:nuke: :scared:

1. Unfortunately, the opinion of the rest of the world doesn't matter
...to the Monkey, as he proved in Iraq. That said, I don't _think_ even he is foolish enough to do this, but...he may rapidly b reaching the place Nixon was when he implied that he'd launch a nuclear strike to free himself from his Watergate tormentors. While I don't think the Monk will "do it"...he DOES believe he's on a divinely inspired mission, and he's got a history of not listening to any advisor who contradicts his deity-inspired insanity...so you never know, unfortunately.

One which he will CONVIENIENTLY blame on Iran. That way he (Bu$h) can get all his adoring minion-zombies shaking in their hovels and then falling at his feet in praise when the nukes do fall.

4. I wonder
I wonder if the generals would just flat-out refuse to obey an order to nuke Iran.

2. He's doing the work of GOD
Bush doesn't have to worry about consequences. Jesus will come down and fix it all anyway.
