I need a link about wasting your vote.
I need a link about wasting your vote.

Something along the lines of: If you don't vote for the Dem, and you support a 3rd party, you will be wasting your vote.

It is surprisingly hard to find one on Google.

Does anyone have a link?

Thanks in advance.

1. what are you talking about?
you need a link to make a simple one line argument? Or are you looking at this historical?

I mean it'd be easy enough to find a few articles making this argument about nader in both 2000 and in 2004.

2. Go ahead and Google: "Wasting Your Vote"
You will see all the articles are about how you should not be scared to vote your conscience. I am looking for the opposite conclusion: That voting your conscience is wrong... and if you do so Republicans will control both houses and the presidency.

3. Ah. So you are looking for a strawman argument to knock down?
I think you should cast your vote based on what is good for America. Voting for a third party candidate is clearly, in some cases, bad for America.

But everybody should do what they feel best.

4. It's for my blog.
My blog features counterpoints. If you know of a blog that says what you just said I could use it.

8. Thanks for your help DU. Here's a few sentences:
www.brainshrub.com/do-not-waste-your-vote

Here's a clip:

While we are on the subject of sticking to a strategy that doesn't work for fear of losing; I should mention that while I don't agree with Christianity, I keep going to church because I don't want to waste my prayers. Besides, if I worshiped some other cloud being - it would practically guarantee that Supay, the Incan god of death, would reign supreme.

I also don't like potatoes - but I'm going to keep eating them because switching to another vegetable would be a waste of my taste buds. If I tried carrots, than the spinach farmers will get a corner on the market. Since I hate spinach more than I hate potatoes, this strategy obviously is the safest path.
