Gene Pitney found dead in London hotel room. I really like him,
and I've always said when something happens to the Everly Brothers, I'm having my headstone carved out the same day. Rest in Peace, Gene - you were great.

7. Only love can break a heart. Only love can mend it, again.
Didn't he do that one?

He had some really good hits in the mid 1960s. Kind of a BJ Thomas crooner.

And the Everly Brothers? Doesn't get any better.

He com-om-om-omes,
that's Cathy's Clown ...

or

Wake up, little Suzie
wake UP!

11. One of my favorite Everly Brothers
tunes was "Poor Jenny".
The Everly Brothers, that unlike the loud-mouthed tough talking singers of these times, actually walked away from a music career to join the Marines.

It is in Tom Harkin's old congressional district, southwest Iowa.

It's a cool little town.

10. heatbreaker, a great great gene pitney song
remember this one?

I've got another heartbreaker on my hands
Girl, I can't stand up to you and be a normal man
My heart can't take it, I'm fallin' in love with you
You'll trap me into doin' things I wouldn't ordinarily do
You're dynamite, you've got me uptight
The way you sock it to me, girl, you're outta sight

Chorus:

Heartbreaker, heartbreaker
Heartbreaker, heartbreaker

Verse 2:

She's a heartbreakerand all my buddies know
She makes me feel like a king behind closed doors
When we're out on a date and none of it shows
She makes me feel like the lowest man on the totem pole
She's dynamite, she's got me uptight
The way you sock it to me, girl, you're outta sight

(repeat chorus)

Instrumental

What a heartbreaker, the devil on wheels
Whatever you got, you sure make me feel real
I'll keep on hangin' out, hangin' in as long as I can
I can't help myself, here I go again
You're dynamite, you've got me uptight
The way you sock it to me, girl, you're outta sight

(repeat chorus)

Heartbreaker, heartbreaker
Heartbreaker, heartbreaker
My heartbreaker, heartbreaker
Oh heartbreaker, heartbreaker

13. Big fan of Gene Pitney
But for my generation Buddy Holly, The Big Bopper (J.C. Richardson), Richie Valens perishing in that small plane will always be "the Day the Music Died". Not to take anything away from Gene Pitney, Roy Orbison and all the other greats that have left us behind.

15. Didn't he, though?
I can remember exactly where I was when I first heard him sing. His voice was unique.

He was such a talented man. Singer, songwriter, arranger.
