Mexican flags? Check out what Some Anti-Immigrant Protesters...
bring along. I'm sure many if not most anti-immigrant protesters are equally offended by this, but they have certainly attracted a certain element:

<snip>
"This is a recent Minutemen rally. And yes, that's a Nazi flag there, third from the right.

Well, I've been saying all along that the Minutemen's core demographic is constituted of right-wing extremists, including many outright racists.

At a recent anti-immigrant rally in Laguna Beach, the connection was made explicit.

The rally was held July 30 (2005). It apparently was a follow-up of sorts to a similar rally held in the same locale on July 16, in which a local anti-immigration activist decided to protest a local arts festival's financial support for a day labor center for undocument workers. This rally drew the participation of the Save Our State campaign (an ostensibly mainstream anti-immigration organization) and the Minutemen's Jim Gilchrist. It also drew a contingent of neo-Nazis"

Why the hell do the white supremacists come out in force to counter any protest involving people of color? It's just disgusting!

And what does the confederate flag have to do w/anything? I get how stupid they are...it's just mind boggling to me that they blanket their hate so generously for any occasion.

7. The difference
Between those who use it as symbol to protest fascist policies and those who glorify nazis should be pretty damn obvious.

8. Quite a week for flag talk on DU -- US, Swastika, Confederate, Mexican.
The one thing I'm certain of is that symbols are powerful.

10. Not to mention....
They make it look like those of us who are against open borders are bigoted and/or Nazis. A lot of people are like me--welcome immigrants of all races, just as long as they ENTER OUR COUNTRY LEGALLY and LEARN OUR LANGUAGE. It's not too much to ask, for a lifetime of opportunity.

I happen to be a member of the Minutemen and am also a life long Democrat. We can no more control who shows up for a public rally as any organization. We ignore them and all others like them. We do not allow them in our meetings and we have a pretty extensive screening process. We do not have a problem with immigration as long as it is done legally.

The Minutemen is NOT a racist organization and in fact several members are of Hispanic extraction. I can also tell you first hand that most of the members I have talked to are not big fans of shrub or the repubs. Who have done nothing but give lip service to controlling / protecting the borders. The purpose of the organization is to draw attention to a problem that has existed for years and has been ignored by the government. They don't like the message so lets just label them racist.

Remember, the first person to call us vigil-antis and eluded to calling us racists was shrub because he and other elected officials need a constant stream of cheap, desperate, exploitable human beings for their corporate overlords.

Crying racism is simple dismissal of a very complex issue. I suggest you educate yourself on the subject.

BTW, my congressional Representative is also a Democrat and she voted for HR4337. I was very proud of her and look forward to working on her campaign in November.

15. so why don't you guys focus on the politicians ?
after all, they have the power to actually change things.

but it's always easier to pick on those without power. especially those who are so desperate to risk their lives to do cheap labor .
