12. My thoughts, exactly, and I'm probably the oldest one of this group.
Edited on Thu Mar-30-06 09:51 PM by Radio_Lady
I'm a female talk show pioneer who did production work for Barry Gray on WMCA (New York) and Larry King on WIOD (Miami), and who eventually worked on-air for several years in both Miami and then Boston as the first female with a daily radio talk show in the 1970s and early 1980s.

To me, Don Imus and Howard Stern are living father-and-son reminders of how vile and disgusting radio talk can get these days. They are the pits, and I just hope their time is up sooner rather than later.

It's really amazing to hear Don's crappy crew trying to outdo their own insults. They will insult a guest before he/she comes on, then do an interview complete with insults, then dismiss the guest, and along come more insults! This is the worst radio I have ever heard in my life. (Well, if I thought hard enough, I might mention Michael Savage who is just purely unbelievably disgusting -- since I am a former New Yorker and a Jewish woman to boot, I find him doubly odious.)

Incredibly, Don Imus even insulted HIS OWN WIFE on Larry King's show a few weeks ago! Go figure! Deidre Imus, who is a beautiful woman with a commitment to environmentally friendly products, was interviewed with her husband. While she was explaining the features and benefits of the products to Larry, Don was sitting at her right verbally prodding her to finish up and looking visibly vile and churlish, while attempting to put the focus back on himself. He must have been jealous, that's all I can figure out!

It was loathsome. Who the hell does he think he is?

In peace,

Radio_Lady

28. wow i saw that interview on LK and i thought the same thing..
he did not like his wife getting more attention than he was getting and he tried to shut her down..but she gave it back big time i thought..she was pissed!but elegantly pissed!

it reminded me of the old man syndrome with young wives..they are the teachers, the decision makers..the end all and be all..but when the wife comes into her own..they can't take it!
i have seen that scenario many times before with the older guy/younger woman thing..

don imus is a old dry druggie and drunk..and now the worlds biggest hypocrite!

and he thinks he has the moral compass to evaluate anyone else's behavior or values..what a freaking joke!

4. And this quote from the article:
*from CBS’s 60 Minutes, rebroadcast on NPR:

MIKE WALLACE: You told Tom ANDERSON, the producer, in your car coming home that Bernard McGuirk is there to do “nigger” jokes.

DON IMUS: Well I’ve n– I never use that word.

MIKE WALLACE: Tom?

TOM ANDERSON: I’m right here.

DON IMUS: Did I use that word?

TOM ANDERSON: I recall you using that word.

DON IMUS: Oh, okay, well then I used that word, but I mean– of course that was an off the record conversation–

MIKE WALLACE: The hell it was!

38. But the dried up old muthafcuka loves black music...
just listen to the music that he plays when going into commericial break. He plays a lot of music that has its roots in the 1950s...I know because that is the music that I grew up on. His is a case of being jealous because he is not black, not cool, and will never be accepted or welcomed by the black community in the way certain whites are accepted.

8. Imus Looks Stoooopid In That Hat Too
If he thinks it is cool when he is wearing it, he is dead wrong. He looks ridiculous, it looks absolutely insipid. I just want to slap him when I see him wearing it because you can tell he thinks he is hot. EEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Just goes to show you, stoopid hat, racist, tasteless, overactive ego, and not very bright = looking like a fool

My 2 cents

He's abrasive because his attitude keeps people listening. I do not like Bernie, he's a hateful repug, but ya gotta take the good with the bad.
Imus and his wife are people who have given a lot back, as much as I dislike listening to his continual whoring for his causes.

13. Yup...

His wry grouchiness cracks me up. He baits people just to get them stirred up a little bit.

Bernie is generally obnoxious, but I am not sure you can peg any one of them down all the time. To me it's more interesting to listen to someone with whom I DON'T always agree. That reflects life more than listening exclusively to someone who thinks exactly like you. Guess I'm not a purist. Not a liberal Puritan!!

15. Um, why do you think Imus keeps him around?
So McGuirk can be the one to say all the blatantly racist, sexist jokes - that way people won't blame Imus. But people should blame Imus; he employs & supports the guy. Instead of asking him to remove McGuirk, how about threatening to boycott the show? If there's one thing they care about, it's ratings.

14. The man is crazy. He is a male Coulter. Absolutely all the way crazy.
That program is only good for psychiatry students in their first year. Watch and notice that there must be over 100 people backing up this program from the cameraman to the payroll director to Charles and Bernard to Newsweek to the wife of the former Fed Reserve. They support his out of his mind narcissism and dis-functional social and functional craziness. I cringe when a Democrat appears on the program. If you don't like to get into psychiatry games - just observe his abuse.

was on the other side. No one needs a cynical criticizing destructive old man like this to be for you. I would rather eat nails to have a person like this on my side of any argument. I watched Imus for about two weeks and said frick that.

29. Even Imus was disgusted with their talk. I heard it this morning.
he sounded really pissed at these guys.

"IMUS: Shut up! I’m begging you to shut up. Both of you. I’m going to murder both of you.

MCCORD: Just because she slept with them doesn’t mean she slept in the manner he’s talking about.

MCGUIRK: Something stinks.

IMUS: You are an SOB Steve McCord. Stop it! I am begging you both. Stop it! Stop it now! Stop it! This is outrageous.."

Imus is still a jerk.

37. He constantly pats himself on the back for that ranch
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 03:08 PM by dancingme
OK, we know he is giving kids with cancer a chance to spend a few weeks at a dude ranch but why does he have to constantly brag about his charity work? If it really came out of selfless giving he wouldn't talk about it. Paul Neuman has had his ranch for years and rarely talks about it. When he gives interviews on his acting or race car driving he is asked about the charity and his Newman foods, etc but he never sounds like he is patting himself on the back when he discusses it. Imus just sounds like "Aren't I better than any of you because I give my money to charity"
