SHOCKER! Freepers Aren't Buying The "War On Christians!"
Edited on Wed Mar-29-06 11:24 PM by K8-EEE
WOW!! When even THEY stop swallowing this drivel, the gig is UP for BushCo.

They are TOAST!

==================================

So, undoubtedly they're being forced to meet and worship in secret; being thrown in jail for being Christian; being forced to perform in arenas in duels to the death for the amusement of their pagan overlords; and generally tortured and abused. How could you doubt their word on the matter?

Yup. And if one admits to being a Christian, they don't have a chance of being elected to Congress. Admitting that you are an atheist is the key to political success in this country.

Furthermore, Christian Evangelicals are a total fringe group in American politics. Their support is not neccesary for the election of an American President. That is why Bob Dole and the Senior George Bush were two-term Presidents, while Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush couldn't get elected.

Oh, the humanity!

So are you saying that Christians in government jobs need to resort to the secret(in Roman times) "ICHTHYS" symbol to avoid possible offense? Or are you saying that the cross on the mission should be replaced with a fish or the Alpha+Omega? The latter would not appease the left and, like simply removing the cross outright, would be an historical inaccuracy,i.e. a LIE. As to the former I have to point out that the fish symbol was used by early Christians for a specific purpose-to avoid Roman persecution. You seem to be making the case for me.

So the fact, that one is not yet thrown into the Lion's Den if one does not bow before an image of the king three times a day, means, to you, that there is no persecution of Christians? </sarc After all, Daniel probably did not have to work for the king.

You are correct. And those who think there is such a war are self-delusional.

Ah, so the judges on American Idol are persecuting Christians. Oh, the horror.

1. They've even used the term Christian Taliban on occasion
There is a definite split between the Fundamentalist Republican Conservatives, and other Republican Conservatives.

2. Given that they've got churches as big as sports stadiums
I'd say seeing trumps swallowing the new myths.

4. A lot of the big box churches are a bit empty now....
Not so much because of any "war" IMO, but people are getting wise to the whole con of the bit TV evangelism.

5. I think it's more a split between Right winger Christians
and REAL Christians. Not necessarily liberal versus conservative either. Real Christians strive to be Christlike. There is nothing Christlike about these people. They are vindictive and war mongers. Hateful Hateful people!

7. very interesting thread...
A lot of cry babying, and hypocritical statements. In one statement, someone says, that the left, aka michael mooore, gays, what have yous, have the victim hood song and dance down pat, and yet, in the same thread, the people are crying about being persecuted because of their religious beliefs? In one hand, make fun of people who say they are a victim of persecution...and in the other hand, wave a banner that says they are being persecuted? It makes no sense. A few people on the thread discounted the war/persecution on christians...in all, a very interesting thread...

8. It's a War on Republicans.
Since the leadership of the Republican-Religious Wing market their message to the flocks that are, shall we say, less politically sophisticated, it is rather easy to conflate the issues. The Republican Agenda is marketed through Jesus franchisee's. Apparently, people are not buying the message anymore. Ultimately, I think there will be a backlash against these political churches as people start to get the real con message behind them.

9. War On GOP, Damn Straight.
If it's good for Bush, it's bad for America. That's the way it goes down every time.

10. Some of them actually get it

What religion are the five largest churches in your town?
What religion is professed by the top five elected officials in your state?

How many Christian channels are on your local radio? How many dedicated to other religions?

How many Christian channels are on your local cable system? How many dedicated to other religions?

How many holidays derived from non-Christian religions does your state and/or local government honor? How many Christian holidays?

Using the word 'persecution' in this context is offensive.
