3. It snowed on me early this morning
and we're supposed to be in the 70s by the weekend.

Global warming doesn't mean warmer weather. It means hotter oceans, smaller glaciers, melting permafrost, bigger storms, and wider temperature swings all over the place.

It also may mean the end of us.

10. It's been frickin' cold here, too.
A four-inch wet snow weighted down everything so much a tree fell, taking out the electrical "ground" near my mother's house. Most of her appliances and electronics got fried. I have to take a look at the computers. I'm the family computer guru. I built my mother's computers and I'll probably have to rebuild them. Ugh. She says the surge protectors might have saved the computers, but she doesn't know for sure because the monitors are apparently fried.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

11. Weather incidences is not climate

There can be blips and extremes of contrary weather even within a trend of the opposite.

And we don't even know how Global Warming will play out in detail and on a world-wide scale.

13. It's actually global CLIMATE CHANGE, not jusy global warming
because although some parts are getting warmer (e.g. both Poles), others may get colder (e.g. Europe) due to changes in ocean currents.

The entire world has been experiencing weird weather for several years now. This is the sign of a system in flux. Where it will settle, we don't know.

I guess it really IS from Cheney coming out of his bunker, seeing his shadow, and shooting some old dude in the face.

16. There's a bunch of idiots in the Cleveland area who don't get
how global warming could cause heavier snowfall in this area . . .

Next time someone wants to "trash" global warming because of the "lake effect" snow in Cleveland, I have a bit prepared for him/her (and it's usually a him).

1. Hurricane Katrina (and, at this point, I'd have to say "Hear me out.") . . . Remember the hurricane watch? It was lessening as it hit the cooler waters, then it hit the warmer Gulf of Mexico. When it hits that warmer, moister air, it picks up moisture, which, when it hits landfall, turns into rain. This turned into even heavier rains for Katrina.

2. Cleveland is right off Lake Erie. The "monster snow" comes over Lake Erie and dumps "lake effect" snow on our area. This usually results in a larger amount of snow than normal. (The jetstream comes from the northwest from Canada).

3. When the lake has been frozen over (well, not totally) with the ice extending well before it hits the Cleveland (and Buffalo) area, there's less moisture picked up from the air.

4. When the lake is not frozen over, the water is warmer than the surrounding air, giving moisture to the air.

5. Lake Erie has not been "frozen over" in the past few winters . . .

Therefore, when a winter snow storm hits Cleveland after coming in over Lake Erie, it's going to hit land with a vengeance . . .

18. It's normal
We get a wet gloppy late season, early spring snow, it happens just about every year. I'm always glad to see it because I know that the winter is over, wait a week, you won't recognize the place spring will bust out big time.
These snows germinate seed and provide moisture for growing plants, the sun is getting strong enough now to deal a deathblow to winter, even though I've seen snows well into April, even May.
