Pakistan Bribed 9/11 Commission?
Edited on Mon Mar-20-06 09:39 AM by InfoMinister
Anyone know how reliable this website is?

"Pakistan gave tens of thousands of dollars through its lobbyists in the United States to members of the 9/11 inquiry commission to convince them to drop anti-Pakistan findings from the report, according to Islamabad daily The Friday Times (TFT). The news report said this was disclosed by Foreign Office officials to the Public Accounts Committee at a secret meeting held last Tuesday."

1. There was a lot of conversation about this last week. The consensus

seems to be that it's good information. Paul Thompson piped in and said that he thought that it was entirely plausible after I raised a red flag about sourcing. That led me to do some follow-up, which can be read here:

P.S. - happy 500th.

3. The only part of this that I really doubt is the "bribe" part.

I think the Commission and its staff were quite happy to exorcise information about Pakistani and Saudi roles behind the 9/11 attack, even without a cent changing hands.

Of course, our lobbying looks a lot like bribery to the rest of the world. Maybe we've just stopped calling it what it really is.

4. I don't necessarily think "bribes" have to involve ..........
.....money, although it usually does. Sometimes a "bribe" can be nothing more than a look of "do it our way or else". Whatever form the "bribe" takes it's still just as affective.
