4. antiwar music
PITTSBURGH -- A day of anti-war action marked the 3rd anniversary of our ill-advised incursion into Iraq. We biked, marched, drummed, and some folks even prayed.

KDKA reports "hundreds" turned out. Mainstream newspapers regurgitating the AP reports emphasize that "less" people turned out this year than last year. My quick count was 1,500 people took to the streets on what began as a very cold winter day. An independent count put the number at 2,000. Is that at all important?

Here are some pictures. See with your own eyes. Here are some photos from the March 18th anti-war action. Marchers, flags, signs, cops, and more cops.< > http://pittsburgh.indymedia.org/news/2006/03/23205.php

7. freeper activity is down--did they report that?
Here--from a 3-page report on the protests:

In Reno, Nev., some 400 anti-war protesters were greeted by counter-demonstrators numbering 20 to 25. It was a reversal from three years ago when about 200 pro-military demonstrators crashed an anti-war protest, drowning out about 150 peace activists' hymns and speeches with chants.

5. Is This Your Statement or Is There
story to go along with your statement. Not that i think Rove has anything to do with us not hearing any anti-war music. Clear Channel, Viacom and others are quite capable of self censorship. They know those November elections are around the corner and won't risk losing big GOP buys because they might play an anti-war song when the moon is in lunar rotation.

6. Lots of music gets on to "No Play" lists
Edited on Mon Mar-20-06 05:32 AM by ikri
Usually during wartime or following significant events.

There's a list here of the songs that were deemed inappropriate by the BBC during the first gulf war and after 9/11. I'm still trying to figure out why some songs like the Beatles song Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da were removed from playlists

*edit* apparently it is too early in the morning & I've lost the ability to spell song
