There are maybe 15 or so helicopters in this picture. It seems to me if they had that Apocalypse Now shot of a helicopter air assault, you know the one with Robert Duvall that really makes freeper chickenhawks cream their pants? If they had that shot in Operation SWARMER they would have released it. This is a farce, this is 15 helicopters. They 101st Airborne soldiers and Iraqis riding in those copters were dropped off in the middle of nowhere. This operation lends credence to the saying "What if we gave a war and nobody came?" It was an operation alright, an operation against American perceptions about the Iraq war.

11. I always use
butt fucking Egypt

My brother had a tshirt in high school that had big letters on it BFD (around 1980). My mom made him rip it up when she found out that all kids at the time knew that it meant BIG FUCKING DEAL. I can't even imagine if we'd had "4:20" back then.

A few years ago in the small town I live in some kids dismantled the letter on the hill (it's a tradition out here to have Town letters here: the first letter of the town, made by painting rocks white and arranging them somewhere within sight of the town) and re-arranged them to say 4:20. I had a good giggle every day when I'd drive past it. An older guy about my dad's age came up to me at work and asked me if 4:20 was some sortof gang jive. He didn't appreciate me spitting my water all over him. Needless to say, after a few weeks, the town "fathers" figured out what the 4:20 meant and someone climbed up there and re-arranged the rocks back into an M.

3. was it the lack of incoming fire, or the no arrests, and indeed nothing
except some old ammo dumps being the result?

But the Iraqi forces followed our guys and did a great job holding the ground - before the group - 600 of our guys plus 600 Iraqi guys - flew away to the next "hot spot".

4. Well, you know the problem........we don't have control of the land routes
If there really were insurgents based there, then land transport would have been too dangerous. Once they got in, they wouldn't have gotten out. So helicopters are necessary transportation. Not scarier than a commuter jet, considering the use.

14. Who can blame them? We are asking for it. We will be stopped,
either militarily or monetarily. This maladministration does not do foreign policy at all. They are the bullies on the block and we all know what happens to bullies.
