...And Hardly a PEEP From the MSM Regarding Feingold's Bush Censure!
Edited on Mon Mar-13-06 07:27 PM by Dr. Jones
Well gee whiz. Senator Feingold makes a historic motion on the floor of the Senate today to censor President Bush. His speech was pointed; logical; and very damning. Dare I say, it was HISTORIC.

Now tonight I turn on the weak-kneed MSM news. NBC - hardly any mention of the Feingold censure motion. ABC - hardly any mention also. And CBS - nada. And even PBS News Hour with Jim Lehrer, which nearly ALWAYS keeps us up to date with the latest Congressional goings-on, was SILENT on this matter. Why?

Why is the MSM SO WEAK-KNEED? Why are they SO AFRAID to air this? Is this not NEWS?

Please email the MSM news networks in protest, and tell them to carry this news!

Edit: I don't get cable TV, but I understand CNN did cover a bit of this...but still, I feel the story was vastly understated.

don't bother, not there either.

Instead we get an overlong"Newsmaker" interview with John Boehner. Well, it was sort of relevant about a month ago...

13. Why Do You Continue To Watch Corporate Whore Media?
I said earlier, the only substantial coverage you're EVER going to see on this, will be on Keith Olbermann Countdown.

Listen....if you feel obliged to watch the other garbage news shows, at least don't come here and ask stupid questions like "Why oh why aren't they covering this democratic censure story?"

It's frankly embarassing that DUers don't yet recognize that NONE of the Corporate Media shows give a Shit about anything important to us here.

I think I just need to stop reading DU in the afternoon, so I don't have to read people constantly confused over why Tweety is biased, why Blitzer is biased, or why this or that corporate media whore doesn't give a damn.

<snip>
WASHINGTON — Sen. Russell D. Feingold (D-Wis.) said Sunday that he would ask the Senate to censure President Bush for authorizing a warrantless domestic spying program, signaling a new determination by Democrats to keep the heat on the White House over the controversial eavesdropping by the National Security Agency.

Although the surveillance program has drawn criticism from Republicans as well, a Senate GOP leader dismissed the move by Feingold, a liberal iconoclast and possible 2008 presidential candidate, as "political grandstanding."

Announcing plans to introduce a censure resolution today, Feingold said, "The president must be held accountable for authorizing a program that clearly violates the law and then misleading the country about its existence and its legality."

By todays standard, this report is normal. By yesterday's standard, this report is (Fill in the Blank)!

1) Lets look the title, "Democrat Plans to Ask Senate to Censure Bush". Um, typical... Democrat with hat in hand.

2) Paragraph 1: (see above) Democrats are applying heat... Uh, hun OK.

Paragraph 2: (see above) The Senate GOP leader... Now to the Republicans before the story is explained in full, BS.

Paragraph 3: (see above) Feingold said... Back to the Democrat with his hat in hand, Gee thanks LA Times...

Then the story goes to the 1978 FISA law and then to Bill Frist for a couple paragraphs then back to Andrew Johnson and how he was censored by the Wigs and then turned over by the Democrats in the next election cycle. NOTHING about the Fourth Amendment and legal scholars saying Mr. Bush Jr. BROKE the LAW.

This is terrible!!!

edit: mistakes
