The hell of loving Hitler (Eva Braun's biography)
When I embarked on Eva’s biography, three surprising facts emerged. She was never a Nazi. I found proof of this when I saw a gold medallion – a gift to her from Hitler – that was auctioned 17 years ago. The inscription on it said Eva Braun had earned Hitler’s special esteem, even though she was not a party member. Nor was she anti-semitic – she begged Hitler to save the Jews she and her family knew. And her love for Hitler was lifelong, although she had to struggle against his neglect. In May 1935 she wrote in her diary: “He has so often told me he is madly in love with me, but what does that mean when I haven’t had a good word from him in three months?” In private, when he was gratified after sex, Hitler might tell Eva he loved her, but in public he treated her with contempt or indifference.

11. The question here is how seemingly normal people can tolerate monsters.
What we tolerate, complain, write to our weak ineffectual legislators, does not yet equal what happened in Nazi Germany.

The morality tale here is how does this happen? It can happen here.

14. Eva was what we would call an airhead today.
She wasn't concerned about politics, but doing girly things like her hair and makeup, reading movie magazines, romance novels and spending her time with frivolous pursuits. She was oblivious to the suffering around her and the wars Hitler had started.

I'm sure she didn't even have a clue what a monster Hitler was because she didn't see or know what he did when she wasn't around.

21. On the other hand, Braun understood the danger of breaking up with Hitler.
Hitler had a thing going on with his young half-niece, Geli Raubel, during his rise to power in Munich days. She tried to break it off, and was "mysteriously" found dead from a suicidal gunshot. (Kinda sounds like the BFEE modus operandi).

Would YOU have tried to end it with Hitler even if you were a "birdbrain"?
