So Bush will veto any attempt to stop this deal going through...
He hasn't vetoed anything in the past 6 years... not bloated spending bills that give too much of our money to untrustwrothy contractors... not anything.

But this... this ridiculous handing over of sensitive information and access to a shady company in a country that we know harbors terrorists... this he is willing to use his veto power for?

Is this REALLY not enough to cause those at the bush-loving sites to question exaclty WHO this man is loyal to? Because it sure isn't this country!

Me too
I can't wait. This is just another one of his "I'm the boss! Don't tell me what to do!" tantrums. I can't believe one of the handlers hasn't interrupted his naptime reading of "My Pet Goat" and whispered that maybe this is a bad idea?

6. Yes, I saw that coming...
but that doesn't change the fact that he was so committed to this deal that he said he would.

That alone should be enough to get them thinking... oh wait... what am I saying? Think? Them? ;)

4. How symbolic...
it would be for Bush's first veto be overruled... by his Republican Congress.

Oh sweet justice.

9. That would be nice, However, i think it will go like this.
Bush will veto the bill
The house will vote to overturn the veto
the Senate will NOT vote to overturn the veto

Bush gets his campaign donors the work
and
the House Repukes save face and do not get as damaged in their re-election bids.

I may be a conspiracy nut on this, but that is the way I see this playing out.

5. Nothing will change the Bu$hista's beliefs about Der choosen Dim Son
because it is easier to Believe than to think. We have to change the direction of our country's policies or else Nuclear extinction is the only possible outcome.

There I said it. When will agent Mike take me off to GitMo?

10. I think the veto is a bluff....
...just like the Republicans in Congress threatened to "go nuclear."

Junior knows, very well, the political implications of a veto on this issue. It would sink him further. He's just using the threat of a veto to get his own way. He threatens, to bring everyone around the table to craft a compromise. Usually, the compromise is Junior getting his way.

Junior's veto and the Reps' nuclear option have something in common--they are hollow threats that would actually help the Dems.

The Dems need to call the bluff on these bullies, and let them shoot themselves in the foot.

I say...tell Junior, "Tough rocks...you want to veto, then move forward with this unpopular move which will allow the Dems to take Congress in 06 and impeach you? Have at it, big boy!"

16. Simple. He's a lame duck prez. He does what he wants
He's not running for anything in 2008, so he doesn't care.

Congress wants to look light they're fighting terrorism, and from the Nays I think they'll probablyu override their veto (they have more than a 66% majority)

Bush also wants a nice cushy job on a board for one of the Mideast Oil Barons. He can pull teh "I did what I could" line and he still looks good to those who brought him.
