The Bush administration, stung by the public outcry over the Dubai port deal, has launched a national security investigation of another Dubai-owned company set to take over plants in Georgia and Connecticut that make precision components used in engines for military aircraft and tanks.

The administration notified congressional committees this week that its secretive Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) is investigating the security implications of Dubai International Capital's $1.2 billion acquisition of London-based Doncasters Group Ltd., which has subsidiaries in the United States. It is also investigating an Israeli company's plans to buy the Maryland software security firm Sourcefire, which does business with Defense Department agencies.

Administration officials are privately briefing leaders of half a dozen House and Senate committees this week about the two planned transactions, concerned that both deals could stir controversy in a political climate that remains supercharged over the Dubai port deal.

2. Screw globalization...it's bad enough that so many jobs are being
'outsourced'..we need legislation passed that stops foreign interests (ANY!) from holding any sort of contract even REMOTELY related to National Security. While we're at it, let's stop Corporations from shipping so many employment opportunities overseas (or over 'the Border')as well.

5. Ok if it's just
global commerce then at least make sure it has nothing to do with our security or military interests (now that Chimpy McCokespoon has started a F'ing global war) I mean this is a little freaky our ports and now a company "that make precision components used in engines for military aircraft and tanks". so lets sum it up- Dubai will be involved with our unsecured ports and our military aircraft and military tanks Is it just me or does this really really stink???

6. Why should anyone have a problem with this?

7. Back in the good ol' days, Cold War era,
a company making anything for the military could not be dependent on components from a foreign country. All parts had to have two sources as well. Seems we've come a long way in outsourcing our security.
