Colo Gov Bill Owens(R)-Iraq rage a sign of progress
Wingnuts returning to their favorite talking point. Failure=success.

"Owens: Iraq rage a sign of progress
After visiting Colorado GIs and officials there, the governor offers thoughts on war and health care.
By Mike Soraghan
Denver Post Staff Writer

Washington - The violence that has pushed Iraq toward civil war may show the success of U.S. military efforts, Gov. Bill Owens said Sunday after returning from one of the hot spots in the war, because insurgents have had to resort to more extreme tactics.

Choosing his words carefully, Owens relayed how Maj. Gen. Timothy E. Donovan, chief of staff for the U.S.-led international coalition, explained the motive behind last week's insurgent bombing of the Golden Mosque.

"He said we were kicking their rear," Owens said. "He said their old tactics weren't working and they had to do something to change the dynamic, and that is incite a civil war."

Among the successes Owens cited were securing Iraq's border with Syria, bringing stability to the country's less populous provinces and using new vehicles specially equipped to deflect roadside bombs."

1. Clearly, they're getting desperate and they're in their last throes.
The best this tiny minority can do is get everybody involved in the war, which clearly is a sign they are marginalized and weak.

:sarcasm:

Ummm....if I am reading this right and Owens is saying the Gen communicated that the US changed tactics and promoted the bombing of the mosque to incite civil war....isn't this a crime against humanity? This is the stuff the Hague lives for.....

7. Will the last one out of tunnel please turn off the light?
Pretty soon we're going to be winning some hearts and minds. Is it just me or do you feel a cold "draft" of deja vu?

8. YES!!! Hearts and MINDS!!!! How could I have forgotten that one!
Of course, the full context, never mentioned, was "Grab 'em by the balls, and their hearts and minds will follow!"

6. Owens is one who listens to those "generals on the ground"--the same

generals who need a victory in their Folder!!!! on their chest!---they are an important stackholder in keeping this war going. (don't wanna be another Gen. Westmoreland).
