We need to demand Chertoff's resignation or firing.
I just watched CanoFun's clip of KO interviewing Menendez from NJ on the port debacle. He showed Chertoff's statement on necessity of this deal going through because of trade agreements. His job is not to determine trade policy--it's to determine risk and to prevent threats from materializing. Dems need to hammer on him until he's gone. Katrina and now this.

2. I agree! And, can you believe Chertoff keeps repeating that
the coast guard will still have sole responsibility for security. Tiny little coast guard.

Just like it was local gov'ts sole responsibility to take care of the Katrina disaster.

3. I think its important to consider Chertoff's Israeli ties as well.
Apparently, Christian Neo-conism and Zionism seem to potentially be broadsiding much if not all of our domestic and foreign policy.

The secrecy and the invitation for more convenient terrorist attacks to further militarize our country is what should be most bothersome to all Americans.

12. Is it fair to mention I have reservations myself
about Chertofs history? On the face of it I question how he obtained his present position. Digging further into the matter which I have not done I readily admit I haven't the slightest idea what I'm talking about. Guess I'll read up about him tonight.

5. Yep, it sure looks like he is relying on his scary "Skeletor" looks
Ya know, look the part of a mean, ruthless bastard, and people will assume you are a mean, ruthless bastard. In actual fact, however, he's a bumbling clown in a scary mask.

13. He and Brownie are prime examples of Cronyism and the damage
of poor leadership....

Ya know, they don't even know the meaning of the word.

14. Of the two of them, Brownie actually comes off better--and THAT is the
horrifying aspect of it all!!!! "Heckuvajob" Horsie Boy seems to have more on the ball than "sell off our ports/screw security in favor of market forces" Skeletor!!!!

If you tried to write these characters into a novel about the government, no editor would let them stand--they're just TOO absurdly incompetent, and as a consequence, unbelievable. The sad thing is, it ain't fiction--it's the awful, horrid truth!

6. It's amazing that he is still there.
Chertoff has consistently demonstrated overwhelming incompetence in his present post. He may be good at something, but it isn't directing DHS.

8. What a PR disaster for the White House to have Chertoff selling the
idea of these ports after his disasterous handling of NOLA. He's like the grim reaper. Anything he touches, dies. Bony faced, sunken eyeballed carabela.

9. Keep The Dysfunctional Poster Children Around Through November
It'd be a great service if this regime would keep these asshats who have come to symbolize ineptitude and cronyism in regular, constant view. While I dare not say things can't get much worse...it will be a reminder to voters this fall of all the disasters this regime has created, not prevented.

While we're at it, let's bring back Tom Ridge and his duct tape...

10. I think this too, but I also get
queasy thinking about the amount of pain this bunch can continue to inflict on the nation in that time. They do huge amounts of major damage in very small time frames.

11. Sadly...The Village Must Burn Some More
People still aren't "getting it". When I hear people still giving this regime a pass on all the ineptitude, the pain isn't being felt enough. With few levers of real power, it might not be a bad idea of just giving these assholes the gasoline and hope they set themselves on fire while we stand back.

No matter what, it's gonna take a lot of hard work to just get to the bottom of this regime's criminality and then to start restoring sanity to this country.

Cheers...
