Why do people keep referring to Cheney as a hunter?
I don't hunt, but to call Cheney a hunter is to insult anyone who really is a hunter. From what I gather from my friends who hunt, the pleasure of hunting is not so much pulling the trigger, but the pursuit leading up to it. They enjoy going deep into the woods and actually reading the signs of the wildlife, actually doing some tracking, bushwhacking through swamps or making your way through snow in hopes of finding that elusive game. They also respect what they're shooting at and appreciate their quarry. That's hunting.

Hunting is not going to some fenced-in corral where farm-raised birds are released practically at your feet so you can blast the smithereens out of the poor creatures. The hunters that I know have a little more respect for their game and for themselves than to do something like that.

Cheney does not hunt. He is no hunter. He is simply a shooter...a very poor one at that...and a lowlife human who has no respect for wildlife or anything else he can kill at the drop of a dime. When his time comes, I hope that mother fucker is reincarnated as a Texan quail.

1. For relaxation, Cheney likes to go out and kill tame birds.
And the president used to blow up frogs with firecrackers when he was a kid. These are our leaders. No wonder America has a brand new reputation as the world's torturer.

2. Husband is non-political for the most part, but calling what
Cheney does 'hunting' infuriates him. He can spend all weekend in the woods watching yearlings frolic and come home having had a great time. Yes, he does kill game, but he has rules. And it has been great for us, for while I would rather not eat meat, my men are meat eaters. I never buy at the grocery store, they provide.

11. Shooting birds as they fly out of cages isn't hunting?
http://www.kdka.com/local/local_story_344154903.html

"Wayne Pacelle, V.P.- Humane Society of the US
Five-hundred pheasants were released in front of Cheney and his men; and the ten-man hunting party killed 417 of the birds. Vice President Cheney alone shot over 70 pheasants.

The birds were then plucked and vacuum-packed in time for Cheney's afternoon flight back to Washington, DC.

The hunt sparked the Humane Society to issue a statement chastising Cheney. "We're appalled that so many animals were killed -- for target practice essentially," says Humane Society Vice President Wayne Pacelle."

Imagine if Gore, Kerry, or Clinton had done this? What would the nuts in the NRA and in DU's gun dungeon have done? Crucified the Democrat? Hung them from a tree? All of the above?

13. Found this link to support your point

But I have personally been wondering, how is a canned quail hunt any different from a stocked pond for fishing?

Thing is, I have seen dressed quail in the grocery. They look like freaking parakeets! I can't imagine how anyone could eat them.
