The guy is nuts!

I don't even know where to start to explain his rantings. This is a bit of my interpretation.

En bref, he hates the media. They aren't giving the 'right' message. Osama and Al quada have 'media committees', 'can you believe it?', that dictate the message we read in NY, London and Paris.

People don't get it that we live in a new world of electronic communications that the enemy have access to and use to manipulate. This is the greatest danger to the world. This is were he has made the greatest innovations in warfare. The have many, many new programs to combat this threat.

Conventional warfare/defense is out the window. Thanks to his great insight and understanding of the new 21st century, his restructuring of national defense and placement of key individuals overseeing new operations are going to save us.

We're in for the 'Long War'

Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah

He's after the 'internet and bloggers',people. That was clear.

My impression was that Charlie, who I have some problems with, wasn't buying it.

2. Osama and Al quada have 'media committees',
yeah they store them in their vast underground bunker complexes, right next to the WMDs.

4. certifiable!
I saw it too. I like the way Charlie Rose operates: he gets these guys feeling all flattered and comfortable, and then they open up and show us how nuts they are.

The last one I really enjoyed was when he had David Brooks on. He's another loon. Then at the end of the interview the guest will say "thank-you--I really enjoyed it!" and they mean it because he has let them expand themselves until they feel like they have really scored a media coup. But they don't realize how a peek inside their brains looks to people like us! It's like Captain Queeg in "The Caine Mutiny", except that they don't realize what they've shown us.

I agree--he's in a bubble. It's that danged media's fault, because they only show the bad news! He's shocked--shocked, I tell ya! Says that our media is a tool for Al Qaeda unwittingly. (read a little history of politics, Rum, and see that the press has always been negative toward those in power.)

I got the distinct impression that this man covers up for his considerable lack of intelligence by using a lot of rambling talk than produces precious little real insight. I thought, this man is no smarter than I am--and I want and need a leader I can look up to. This one is an empty suit! John Kerry called for his resignation in the summer of 2003--if only that had happened.

5. I have news for you -
you're probably MUCH smarter than Rumsfailed.

Anyway, I agree that Rumsfailed is certifiably crazy. Rumsfailed has been upset about the Internet for a long time. Last year, he said "Lies can spread around the world in a matter of seconds" = meaning, the Internet.

This is a man who lives in the Medieval times. From what I understand, he doesn't use the Internet. He sees new technology as a fuzzy enemy, something he can't quite understand, but he knows it's damn effective and he has no idea how to fight it. "I'm an old man", Rumsfailed said when he visited Iraq 2 years ago. Damn right.

THROW THE MAN OUT. The problem with Rumsfailed is also, he won't listen to anybody else or cooperate like in a team. It's all HIS WAY OR NO WAY. The Pentagon has been purged of anybody who spoke out against him.

Christ, how the Pentagon must have suffered these past 5 years.
