DU make-up wearers! BOYCOTT estee lauder!
Deep rethug ties, and the chimp is trying to put an unqualified family member on the Federal Reserve Board.

4. Who can afford estee lauder?!!
sheez - even Cover Girl is getting too expensive. Besides, except for the pretty packaging and the spritzing salesgirls, it's all the same.

21. Great site on make up and skin care.
Edited on Fri Feb-17-06 07:23 PM by MissMarple
www.cosmeticscop.com "Don't Go to the Cosmetics Counter Without Me" is her book. It has lots of good information. Paula Begoun says there are good products in every price range.

Eww...that's too bad about Estee Lauder. But they did sell me some things that are not appropriate for my skin type. I guess they loose out. Lancome is owned by L'Oreal. I think that's French. ;)

5. I heard that too on Lou Dobbs. Glad I shop organic cruelty free.
And, the products are just as good. :kick:

31. Mineral makeup for me
lots of knowledgable folks make it that follow strict FDA labeling rules, organic and not tested on animals in any way. Plus it is paraben free, unlike other makeup.

My skin has never been better in my life for it. Plus, it is No Chem No Syn.

I have not purchased over the counter makeup in more than two years.

7. I can't boycott MAC (even though Estee Lauder bought them)
But I have no problem staying away from Estee Lauder makeup itself, if that helps. MAC is the only makeup that I have purchased for the last 12 years and I love their products.

8. Are you sure?
I remember reading that Estee Lauder Co. was solidly "blue", so I just googled and found this:
http://www.motherjones.com/news/special_reports/mojo_400/68_lauder.html
<snip> "But Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole, and Tommy Hilfiger give the bulk of their contributions to Democrats. So does the largest individual donor from the fashion world, Leonard Lauder, chairman of his mother Estee's eponymous cosmetic company..,"

13. Interesting. I heard a segment on Lou Dobbs that said Estee
Lauder corp. was a long time contributer to the Repukes. The segment was about some new crony * has appointed. He is married to an Estee heiress.

14. That is weird...
lou dobbs just briefly discussed their long long relationship with repigs. I guess it may be based on commercial interests, as it takes alot of make-up to make rethugs presentable.

17. And if you boycott Lauder
you'll also have to boycott Clinique, Origins, and a bunch of other cosmetic companies I can't think of right now, including some drug store brands. They're all Lauder.

15. Would that be Ron?
He's been deep dyed red for years. I remember working on a commercial for term limits in New York and he was the main mover behind it.

The rest of the Lauders donations look like like DU (but much larger).
opensecrets.org confirms. Lauders are Dem. Except Ron.

26. The CNN report said the family is a longtime supporter of the GOP.
Possible misinformation or maybe most of them are goobers but Estee is/was (?) not.

28. Hmm...I don't think so. They take the information directly from the FEC.
Don't they? If the record shows that they support Dems over Repukes, then li'l Wolfie Blitzboy got handed a crock of horse poo. On the other hand, the personal contributions of the Lauder family could differ from the corporate contributions of Estee Lauder, Inc.

They're Dems, except for Ron.

Edit Ron gave 100K to the RNC. But it looks all the other Lauders donate to Dems only.

30. As far as I was aware, Lauder and Revlon are both very
generous to the DNC. At least they used to be. Even BuyBlue says they're okay. But, I can't afford Lauder anyway, so it's a moot point.
