the cruelest lie of all: lying soldiers into early graves to make profits
Edited on Tue Jan-03-06 08:34 AM by mopaul
watching the worst cheerleader possible, dick cheney, addressing the troops in baghdad, the very troops he's sent off to die to make him even wealthier, made me cringe. he was there to rally them, but all his applause lines fell flat, to no applause. tried and true ones, like, 'these colors don't run' were met with stony silence. chilling.

and bush, the ape himself, visiting crippled soldiers and handing out purple hearts to the broken. what balls. what sickness. how can he face them when they tell him they'd go back and do it all over again, despite their loss of an arm or leg or face?

how cruel to use the patriotism and bravery of young men for such a cheap purpose, to make billionaires into trillionaires, how sick inside to you have to be to buy into this obscenity?

Clinton was impeached over an insignificant lie. bush has lied about many, many things, and many, many people have died horribly because of his lies, yet, there he sits.

yet, there he sits.

1. The lie is compounded
by Bush/Cheney's own lack of service records. It is ironic that a draft dodger and a deserter are trying to rally the troops. Their hypocrisy is stunning. Anything for oil. What they don't realize is that the troops are not morons. It may take a little time, but eventually they will find, just like during Vietnam, that resistance will rise and they will not be able to manipulate the troops. The greatest voices against war have come from those who served in one. History will not be kind to these two.

3. They are ALREADY the two most reviled human beings of all time.

Europeans have commented that Bush is the most hated man in world history. One example: A good friend of mine - a very politically experienced and savy, yet cautiously understated person, spent a week in Ireland last fall. I asked her what feedback she got from the Irish was re Bush (she was mainly in Cork and Galway). She said, in her quiet voice, "The hatred of the Irish for Bush cannot be overstated." She would say to people like the hotel manager, cab driver or waiter - after some preliminary conversation - I want to ask you a question. It's political, and I understand if you don't want to answer it - that's fine. "How do the Irish feel about President Bush and his actions in Iraq?" The people she talked to knew she was from the US, but nothing about her political leanings. Nevertheless, and risking their tips or complaints to their supervisors if she had turned out to be a Bush supporter, they responded with rage against Bush and the damage he was doing to prospects for international peace and order; what an insane, bloodthirsty monster the man was; etc. If you know the Irish, they are a very well-educated, well-spoken, well-informed-re-world-politics, group - particularly in comparison to the dumbed-down, couch-potato, "reality" TV addicted Americans.

5. Sure he is, it'll be a long time before someone can trump him
not that I would want someone to.

4. Without a doubt
'IF' we survive this, our country will be much the better for it. Out of all this lying and corruption will come some new laws, possibly even an amendment to the constitution. I want paper ballots hand counted and government funded campaigns. Take the money out of the political process and you will remove most if not all corruption.

6. Your two changes to election procedures are absolutely necessary.
We should have time-limited campaigns, like they do in the UK. And I think France provides "x" amount of money to each candidate and that's all they can spend. We also have to do something about returning equal time requirements to our media; and leveling the playing field on "issue" ads.

7. Exactly, we will have a chance to put a new face on our Government
Due to the repukes over reaching, the old adage, 'give'em enough rope and they'll hang themselves' couldn't be any truer today. There will definitely be some major changes, changes long overdue. The question is are we up to it. My answer is, damn tootin' we are. I want to leave my grandkids something to be proud of. A compassionate, caring and honest government.
