5. Simple evolution

My complicated and pretentious theory is that it is a form of Darwinism/evolution/natural selection. All species have an innate drive to perpetuate their genes. In most creatures, this is manifested in aggression displays with some limited violence, which results in the dominate male getting the mate(s) and a piece of the future.

Most human beings follow there instincts by searching for a mate, having children, raising them, etc. But for some, this natural instinct has evolved into a never-ending quest for supremacy. In today's world, that means political and economic dominance. I suspect that, since conservatives cannot satisfy this instinct sexually—since sex is "bad" and "evil"—then they must express it in other ways, hence the megalomania.



Or I could just be talking out of my ass.
