Is anyone else worried about state-sponsors of terrorism possessing nukes?
The US and Soviet Union both sponsored terrorism around the globe, and we both had massive stockpiles of nukes - somehow none of ours ever found their way into terrorist hands. Even if - and this is a huge if - Iran does someday begin producing nukes, does anyone actually think they'd be suicidal enough to use them? Nowadays having nukes is more of a deterrent than anything else. Iran knows damned well that if they used a nuke against Israel, there would be massive retaliation - not just from whatever Israeli forces that were left, but from the US and Europe as well. There would be worldwide condemnation, not even Russia or China would support Iran if they used nukes first.

1. First of all, EVERY nation is a state sponsor of terrorism...
when circumstances dictate. So who gives a shit? The only country that is a serious threat of letting off a nuke is the USA and everyone knows it.

2. No, I don't worry about it
No country would hand over a nuke to a third party they don't control. They're way too valuable, and the danger of it getting used against themselves is too great. If some country really wanted to plant a nuke somewhere, I'm certain they'd handle it themselves, not through a group of nuts they don't control.

A more realistic worry is an underpaid Russian military commander shivering his ass off in some base in the steppes selling a nuke. They'd have far less restraint in doing so, since they wouldn't really have a use for the thing themselves anyway, far more motive since they're most likely to gain from such a transaction rather than lose, and it's a lot less likely that they'd get caught. Good thing Bush cut back the money to assist with destroying all those old Soviet nukes, eh?

3. Terrorism = Republispeak
What Dubya calls "terrorism" is people fighting a war for what they believe, the best way they can.

Exactly what the US is doing.

Though the US compartmentalizes all Muslims into neat little boxes called "countries", Muslims don't think of themselves in that way--they are all part of a greater nation of Islam.

If a nuke goes off in an American city, who will we attack? Will we fry millions of people in Tehran because we "think" Iran was the source? Would Iran say, "It was us...now come get us!"

There was worldwide condemnation of the invasion of Iraq, and it really didn't matter.
