George Allen .... er Samule Brownback announces for President today.
Samule Brownback, the George Allen of the bizarre yellow brick road of Kansas announced for President today. He began with the Hooverite vision of 1929 expressing his nongovernment philosophy of helping people and lack of compassion in my view, the defunding of social programs implied by his call for a flat tax and tax cuts, implied and equated falsely unborn children with slaves. Sam Brownback looks a bit like George Allen.

We need to tell America that we do not need yet another Hooverite Republican running for office.

Some good news. Newsweek, not a liberal magazine in my view, announced a poll where

48 percent of people want to see a Democrat elected in 2008 and only 29 percent of people want to see a Republican take office in 2008. Now this appears a nice snapshot of what Americans have in view for America.

1. Listening to him on C-Span from time to time, I wonder
what's to stop a progressive voter from being firmly convinced that Senator Brownback is a cretinous xenophobe.

That's the conclusion I reach, anyway.

He is a snappy dresser, however. See? I can say something positive, even about cretinous xenophobes.

2. Hooverite? Try crazed fundamentalist -- read this article
if you haven't already:

God's Senator
Who would Jesus vote for? Meet Sam Brownback

<snip>

After little more than a decade in Washington, Brownback has managed to position himself at the very center of the Christian conservative uprising that is transforming American politics. Just six years ago, winning the evangelical vote required only a veneer of bland normalcy, nothing more than George Bush's vague assurance that Jesus was his favorite philosopher. Now, Brownback seeks something far more radical: not faith-based politics but faith in place of politics. In his dream America, the one he believes both the Bible and the Constitution promise, the state will simply wither away. In its place will be a country so suffused with God and the free market that the social fabric of the last hundred years -- schools, Social Security, welfare -- will be privatized or simply done away with. There will be no abortions; sex will be confined to heterosexual marriage. Men will lead families, mothers will tend children, and big business and the church will take care of all.

3. Rolling Stone article is pure horror story
This info was out and about many months ago and it is really unbelievable that there are powerful people that run our country with that kind of thinking.

This one I save to favorites, just to refresh my memory from time to time of the spooks creeping around Washington D.C.
