Small personal victory to share
Edited on Sat Jan-20-07 01:34 PM by mmonk
Recently I wrote a letter to the editor concerning a 4th district Court Of Appeals bush nominee whereby the newspaper has kept proclaiming his nomination was opposed by Democrats only on a partisan basis (my second such letter this year, the 1st never published). Well, I had given up that this one would be published given the paper's stance. This morning, I awoke to a message left on my answering machine concerning what I wrote (I hadn't even read the morning paper yet) and told me to call them about interest in some truth and public policy projects (if this person is a DU'er, pm me). I haven't made that call to see what it's all about yet but at least my amateur attempts to get the truth out evidently were appreciated. So I just wanted to thank Skinner, the mods, and DU in general for letting me vent here and to be inspired by many of you good writers, activists, and politically connected people. Though my writing sometimes isn't very cogent, maybe somebody like me can actually make a difference. Thanks again and I love you all.

1. Every voice heard, ripples through the public
consciousness and creates a heightened awareness of the burdens that beset our country.
Congratulations on your perseverance and exposure. :applause:

I think LTTEs are vital to exposing people to ideas that often don't make the "news." Let us know what type of projects these turn out to be.

:yourock:

on edit: I learned about corporate personhood through a LTTE. ;)

7. excellent
Funny, but that's precisely how I started writing years ago. I wrote a LTE to a newspaper and the editor actually called me and asked me to write a column.

Very cool and congratulations!
