What do you think? A little over the top?
Cat In Seattle
Seattle PI Editorial:
So, the house approves a bill cutting millions of people from healthcare, needy families from assistance, student assistance, and “more affluent” seniors from receiving health benefits. Meanwhile the president’s State Of The Union speech talks about making more permanent tax cuts to the rich that was cut for the rest of us. He has the nerve to say this while oil companies are rolling in dough, the rich have improved their incomes to the max, CEOs make 500 times more than their workers, no-bid contract companies can LOSE over 8 1/2 billion of our tax dollars without a peep, but the working poor and middle class barely stay afloat with little assistance and are losing ground.
This administration and all the people with them simply keep putting the financial knife deeper and deeper into We The People while cruelly twisting it, don't they? Thus making it possible that over 5000 American companies can have an address in a 4 story building in the Cayman Islands on Church Street in order not to pay taxes, and someone sitting by their heated pool makes more in an hour than a hard-working stiff makes in a year. Yet they expect the poor and middle class do do the dirty work of paying taxes, while they reap all the benefits.
But let we of the “unwashed masses” try to speak up about all this and we are immediately accused of being unpatriotic and starting a class war. Keep this in mind: with over 30 years of the elite’s ‘let ‘em eat cake’ attitude, the poor and middle class did not start this war, they did. If I hear one more accusation around the poor and middle class starting a class war, I am going to scream!
Please tell me this isn’t so of our so-called “real” Americans, but it appears to me that our elite’s big contribution to this country consists of driving gas-guzzling war producing SUVs with yellow ribbons, or riding in sleek foreign cars made by European unions that they are destroying in their own country, while on their way to hand picked political speeches, and while making sure THEIR relatives get into Harvard but not the military. I guess this country now stands for, “by the rich and for the rich” but screw the rest of America.
So much for the rest of us, but aren’t the gated communities SO free, SO protected, SO patriotic, and SO special! Well whoopee-ding-dang-doo!
