'No proof' of Iran nuclear arms
The US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has not found conclusive evidence that Iran is developing nuclear weapons, a US magazine has reported.

Veteran investigative reporter Seymour Hersh, writing in The New Yorker, cites a secret CIA report based on intelligence such as satellite images.

Correspondents say the alleged document appears to challenge Washington's views regarding Iranian nuclear intentions.

The article says the White House was dismissive about the CIA report.

4. Well, what about all those trailers and metal pipes?
I bet the satellite picture show some. Clearly, the CIA doesn't know how to read the photographs as well as the Vice President's office does.

5. Well d'uh, I don't know why the CIA would think that they would find any
After all, given Iran's number of centrifuges, and the amount of nuclear material that they're working with it would take ten years before we would have a nuclear armed Iran. And frankly, there is no sign that Iran is considering any sort of nuclear weapons. The nuclear material that they're enriching right now is fuel grade material, enriched about five percent. Weapons grade material has to be enriched at least 85%.

Cooking Intelligence Again

UN inspectors investigating Iran's nuclear program sent a letter to the Bush administration and to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Rep. Peter Hoekstra (R-Michigan) on September 13 regarding a recent House committee report on Iran's capabilities. The letter called parts of the document "outrageous and dishonest" and offered evidence to refute its central claims. The report, Recognizing Iran as a Strategic Threat: An Intelligence Challenge for the United States, was written by Frederick Fleitz, a former CIA officer and John Bolton’s former Chief of Staff and henchman at the State Department.

The letter sent by officials of the International Atomic Energy Agency and was signed by Vilmos Cserveny, the IAEA's director for external affairs and a former Hungarian ambassador. The letter said that the report contained some "erroneous, misleading and unsubstantiated statements." After no WMD were found in Iraq, the IAEA has been under criticism from the White House for taking a cautious approach on Iran. The letter sent on September 13 is the first time the IAEA has publicly disputed US allegations about the agency’s Iran investigation.

Below are a few of the five major errors in the House Intelligence report pointed out in the letter:

11. But the CIA was WRONG once!
After the Gulf War we found Iraq's nuclear program was much further advanced than our intelligence indicated. If there's a one percent chance that they're wrong now...
:sarcasm:

This WH is not a stickler for facts and details. It's taken for granted around the world that Iran wants nukes to deter a US invasion. But that's a job for the UN, IAEA, and diplomats -- not for the US military or IDF.

12. Look At Their Fine Work In Other Countries...
We still don't know if North Korea really blew up a nuke or a blasting cap. Also don't forget how we underestimated the advancement of the Pakistani and Indian nuclear programs.

The game here isn't IF there are nukes or even if they're being developed, but the "concept" they are being developed. As many here have astutely noted, this regime is looking for a reason to attack Iran and are doing the same "whack a mole" hidden nuke games they tried in Iraq. This is strictly pandering to the chickenshits on the right who want to bomb, bomb, bomb...and the intel always has to justify the politics. How much ya wanna bet Crashcart is back over at Langley pushing for the "right" intel.

If Iran wants a nuke, isn't Dr. Khan still in business in Pakistan? We sure don't hear much about this dude these days.

15. Oooo satellite images...
I'm sorry the burden of proof is on Iran, they are not in full compliance with IAEA as a party to the NPT. They must conclude and honor an acceptable and verifiable safeguard regime.

20. No conclusive proof means absolute proof there ARE WMDs
...and that's good enough for me. I say we nuke 'em now.

Practice your doublespeak. You're gonna need it soon.

Oh, yeah: :sarcasm:
