15. While it seems unlikely
that he will have a breakdown, it will be evident that Bush only views things in terms of himself. So there will be a potential for a strange mix between Bush feeling that the public should view Ford's death strictly in terms of George W. Bush suffering the loss of a friend, to some conflicting emotions that are rooted in Bush feeling Ford betrayed him by telling Woodward that he had grave questions about the Iraqi war. Bush has, of course, hinted that those who dare question his war policies must be viewed as unpatriotic.

I'd also note that, no matter if one liked Ford or not -- and I never have -- his decision to have the ceremony focus on his relationship to the House, and to a lesser extent the Senate, separates him from the strictly Executive identity that is often associated with ex-presidents. I do find that honorable.
