Dead man writes Ford obituary

Okay, I found this on Drudge, but I thought it was pretty funny.

The guy who wrote this obituary died himself this past January.

I guess it's only fitting that a dead man write Ford's obit.

1. I've heard somewhere that any and everyone of consequence...

...has obituaries, written in advance, waiting for them. After all you couldn't have something lashed together at(beyond) the last moment just shoved into the Hatches, Catches and Dispatches any old how.

3. All media out there has pre-prepared obituaries.

Thus material can be on-line or at the printer in minutes, just fill in the blank for age and cause of death.

I once read my own obituary back in 1999, while I was doing mornings at the local radio station. Friend on the paper read it to me. It was fun.

This can cause problems when obituaries are sent out by accident, or when a similar named person dies and someone "throws the switch" early. It happened with Paul Harvey in 1998, and with Art Buchwald recently. Someone even found the URL for, and leaked, Cheney's death notice boilerplate and obituary on CNN. Solemn graphic stating "Cheney Dies" with his official portrait and years.
