Great News! Saudi Government 1. Threatens to Lower Gas Prices
and 2: threatens to go into iraq themselves to protect the 20% population of sunnis

"Another possibility includes the establishment of new Sunni brigades to combat the Iranian-backed militias. Finally, Abdullah may decide to strangle Iranian funding of the militias through oil policy. If Saudi Arabia boosted production and cut the price of oil in half, the kingdom could still finance its current spending. But it would be devastating to Iran, which is facing economic difficulties even with today's high prices. The result would be to limit Tehran's ability to continue funneling hundreds of millions each year to Shiite militias in Iraq and elsewhere."

perfect.

we can go home.

but why was this considered a "threat" to the point where they dragged cheney over there to tell him on thanksgiving?

bush wants to send more troops? the saudi's are saying they'll go in, cut oil prices in half to screw iran, and our fuckhead in the white house has a problem with this?

1. Have they agreed not to fly any more planes into our buildings?
I think this request would be paramount in any agreement with them.

4. "If Saudi Arabia boosted production and cut the price of oil in half"???
Saudi Aramco/Arabia hasn't the spare capacity to affect world oil prices significantly enough to harm Iran. And certainly not anywhere close to "cutting the price of oil in half". The author of this bs piece, "an adviser to the Saudi government", is spreading the lie of perpetually increasing SA production that Bushco, the DOE, and the inaptly named EIA (Energy Information Administration) continue to swallow.

5. well, he was fired after he published this. randi rhodes covered
this whole thing on her wednesday (dec. 13 show in the first and second hour)

my understanding was that prince turki al-faisal fired him

turki was saudi arabia's ambassador to the u.s.

turki up and "quite" on 12/13--or the saudi government pulled him out of here

(don't we usually yank our ambassadors before we go to war?)
