Why not?
Can some strategists please explain this to me......Bush invades Iraq under false pretenses - lies to the american people why it was necessary to invade iraq - and so you are there. Fine. America must finish it and not withdraw prematurely - I guess I can understand that. BUT - where is the accountability factor? When will Bush be taken to task over his misleadership? Why can't the democrats use that????

Look - Rove is going to push Iraq HARD this midterm. I can feel it in my bones. I think the democrats should attack Bush where Bush perceives himself the strongest. I know that sounds crazy - but alls fair in love and war - and that is exactly what Rove would do.

There has to be a way of seperating Bush decision making abilities with supporting the troops. One of the hardest things for a person to do is to admit they were wrong. America has to admit it was wrong to invade Iraq. It was wrong. That does not mean that America will pull out immediately. It means that its military will stay until the region has a stable government and a semblence of security - and America will take its leaders into account for leading the nation down this disastrous course. That is the moral thing to do. That is the right thing to do. That is also the hardest course to take - but a necessary one. And it would go a long way - a very long way to restoring international favor and respect.

I know I am being hopelessly naive - but why can't the dem's take a stand that lying to the american people deserves impeachment?

1. The dems can't
Procedural rules do not allow them to introduce impeachment proceedings. Only the republicans (the majority) can.

Its a lot of BS, but thats the way it is.

2. That is not exactly true
Any member of Congress can introduce Articles of Impeachment. It is the investigations that would be required to go forward that are not being allowed by the Majority. In fact I do believe Articles of Impeachment have indeed been drawn up.

4. Question
Do you mean that it is like a scheduling thing? Where the majority sets the hearings and the agenda and everything?

Does the senate have to do it or can it be done in the house. I have basically lost all faith in the senate and found that the house seems to at least be trying to fight back.
